Before I venture into these amazing polishes, let’s start off with a brief introduction about Deborah Lippmann for those who haven’t heard of her, her works and her nail polishes.
From Vogue, InStyle, W, Vanity Fair and Italian Vogue to Versace, Valentino, Balenciaga, Donna Karen and Zac Posen – Deborah Lippmann is the go-to manicurist for the most fashionable magazines and the most renowned fashion houses. And her eponymous line of lacquers and treatments for nails, hands and feet is as conveted as her incredible talent.

First learnt about this brand through a friend from the UK then comes reviews from various blogs. Because they are not available in Singapore and Deborah Lippmann’s website doesn’t ship internationally, it’s pretty impossible to try. But with the help of good friends around, I managed to get my hands on 5 simply gorgeous shades including Naked – new for Spring 2011!!
Swatches taken indoor with flash for your reference. No base nor top coat, 2 coats of polish each except Across The Universe and Bad Romance which required 3 coats each.
Let’s start with Naked, it’s a clean bare beige which I think, totally flattering on my skin tone, nothing too deep not too pale – I love it. Darkside Of The Moon, a rich eggplant with brown undertone. Then we have the notorious Waking Up In Vegas worn by Lady Gaga on the cover of Vanity Fair. It’s a muted gray.
Across The Universe is my favourite at the moment, I love the odd sizes of glitter and blue-green reflects. Absolutely gorgeous. And lastly, we have Bad Romance - fuchsia on a black base. The glitters in Bad Romance isn’t as distinct as those in Across The Universe.
Aren’t they gorgeous?
So, where can you get your hands on these lovely polishes if you are in Singapore? The nearest store you can find is probably in Hong Kong. Online stores that sells Deborah Lippmann polishes include Nordstrom (US) and House Of Fraser (UK) but both don’t ship nail polishes to Singapore directly, perhaps you can get a friend to help? Last and perhaps the best option, get them from Ebay.
Thank you for reading.
