Look In Prélude

Hello everyone, I wanted to show some love to my much neglected MAQuillAGE Lasting Stick Foundation UV which I really like but never get to use it as often as I should. And I still owe this foundation a proper review. I am so sorry for the long wait. Also, in the look, I will be featuring some of the products I purchased from Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Makeup Collection For Fall 2011. I am loving Les 4 Ombres in 33 Prélude – easily one of the most wearable palettes I have. More about the collection in time to come.

I also tried the new Clé de Peau BEAUTÉ Cream Eye Color in 2 Night Brown (more photos here) in this look.

For face: I started off with a thin layer of Make Up For Ever HD Elixir to hydrate my skin and applied Make Up For Ever All Mat Face Mattifying  Primer over areas which tend to get oily, like my T-zone and chin. Wait for a few minutes for the primers to settle down and apply MAQuillAGE Lasting Stick Foundation UV. Instead of applying the foundation straight from the tube, I used a sponge to pick up an appropriate amount from the tube then apply. I applied more over areas where I needed more coverage. This foundation provides excellent coverage, evens up skin tone and takes away the redness. A little goes a long way.

I followed by applying Chanel Éclat Lumiére Highlighter Face Pen under my eyes, around my nose and forehead to highlight. Set with MAQuillage Loose Powder and lightly dust a little Benefit Powderflage for that extra highlight.

For eyes: Prepped my lids with Urban Decay Primer Potion and went in the ivory just under the brows. I applied the beige all over my lids and taupe brown to the outer corners of the eyes. I used the deep purple-brown to add definition to my eyes by darkening the edges and lower lash line. I used a black eyeliner for the upper lash line and blend the edges with the deepest eyeshadow shade. Applied Chanel Le Crayon Yeux Precision Eye Definer in Khaki Platine to my lower water line.

After the eyeshadow is done, I gently pat Clé de Peau BEAUTÉ Cream Eye Color in 2 Night Brown over, to the outer corners of my eyes. This added more shimmer and an extra dimension to the eyes – giving it a tad more sparkle. Finish the eyes with some mascara and false eyelashes.

For cheeks & lips: Contoured with Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Rumour and dusted Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 68 Rose Écrin along the cheek bones to add some colour. I have chosen to use Chanel Rouge Coco in 79 Plumetis to complete the look but you can go for virtually any shade of lipstick.

The eye makeup in this look is extremely easy to match.

Thank you for reading.

  1. I’ve been wanting to ask you how you’re finding the MUFE HD Elixir. Does it really hydrate your skin and make a difference to your MU?

    • Hi Hannah,
      Sorry for the late reply.
I think MUFE HD Elixir works well especially on very dry, flaky skin.
For me, I occasionally have dry patches so that helps.
I apply it around my eye area to hydrate and minimize lines.
Overall, I think it preps my skin well for makeup.

  2. Now i could direct my reader to the Pro ( yes, you Joey ), as your FOTD has greater details & of course, you’re a better model than myself.

  3. I just did a review of the prelude quad on my blog! It’s absolutely gorgeous and I’m actually wearing it right now =] It looks stunning on you. I have the US version so I’m excited to see the differences with the europ version in your review.

    • Thank you so much Jayelle =)
I think I might prefer the US version based on all the online swatches!!
Too bad I haven’t got a chance to get one to compare..
Apparently the US version is more pigmented and creamier – I am so jealous!!

  4. Hey Joey! Beautiful look as always, your eye looks are always so good. It was so nice to meet you. What a coincidence! I hope I’ll see you again, so many questions to ask . Anyway take care!

  5. Looking beautiful Joey! How does the Chanel Prelude compare with the Suquu blend eyeshadow 04? They both look like similar neutrals? What about their textures and wearability in comparison? Thanks alot!

    • Hi Lisa,
Both wears extremely well but they are very different in terms of texture and finishing.
Prelude is not as shimmery, not as smooth and fine as SUQQU’s tho both palettes lean cool.
