Dolce & Gabbana The One

THE STORY

There’s a new chapter in the story of The One, the sequel to a series of tales about a modern star in the fragrance firmament. Always in the spotlight, this enticing new episode celebrates The One and rose the one as you’ve never seen her before, at her most intimate. Now, The One gets up close and personal: she’s in revelatory mood, ready to expose her innermost secrets.

The spotlight is always on The One. It’s as if she’s the only woman in the room.

Domenico Dolce

THE STAR

Who better to lay bare the most confidential characteristics of The One than Scarlett Johansson? Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s muse steps out from behind her created persona, and in the process, reveals a further facet of her talent as a globally renowned actress and lends a compelling presence to the role.

THE CAMPAIGN

In a film by Jean Baptiste Mondino, the mood of the golden era in Italian film-making – an enduring source of inspiration for Dolce&Gabbana – is perfectly captured. Reminiscent of Cinecittà’s greatest output from director Federico Fellini, in films such as La Dolce Vita, Scarlett is cast as an actress being interviewed between takes.

Scripted by writer Glenn O’Brien in collaboration with Scarlett, the dialogue ricochets back and forth between an unseen journalist and the star. ‘I do all my own stunts… even the lovemaking’, she declares, then towards the end of the interview, admits that she is ‘just looking for one special thing: love…’

Comments Scarlett: ‘For this renewal, we played with the idea of the woman behind the public image. There’s a refreshing familiarity and sincerity. The way to wear The One is as a signature scent – it creates a strong first impression as well as delicately lingering after you’ve gone.’

THE FRAGRANCE

The One explores many facets of the same woman, from party girl to power woman to romantic sensualist. Used to adorn pulse points or misted into the air to fall in a scented aura, The One is a modern ‘floriental’ eau de parfum combining contemporary fruit ingredients with the perfumer’s classic palette of white flowers. The result? Immediate resonance and a lasting, sensuous depth: a fragrance that caresses the skin, like lingerie.

This Christmas, D&G will be releasing the Limited Edition DG The One Coffret featuring The One 50ml EDP and a Bronzer. Retails at S$129, available only at Takashimaya from mid-November 2011.

While we are at D&G, let me share some information of the new fragrance Rose The One with you as well.

Rose The One is a breath-taking realisation of a contemporary feminine floral, and a deftly sensual paean to the eternal romance of the rose. The scent is exhilarating and bursting with joie de vivre without surrendering any of the one’s famously seductive magnetism.

The top notes lure us in with a flirtatious rush of succulent pink grapefruit, mandarin and cassis. At its heart lies a gloriously feminine bouquet of peony, lily, lychee and of course, the impeccably graceful Bulgarian rose. A subtle hint of vanilla carries us down into a tenderly sensual musk and amber base, promising an evocative and soul-stirring sillage.

—————————————-

Have you tried The One and/or Rose The One? I am actually quite excited about the Bronzer as I have never met any D&G makeup products face-to-face before. I wonder if D&G makeup will make their way to Singapore.

Thank you for reading.

  1. D&G Make ups are fabulous, in terms of packaging, formulation, texture & wear; The only problem is their colours are somewhat drastic & bold, for daily wear.

  2. I have the regular The One perfume – it’s one of the few perfumes that last the whole day on me. If I accidentally spray it on a scarf, it smells divine until I wash it out. I liked the female version so much, I actually bought the male version for the bf :)
