Love At First Sight

It was love at first sight – honestly, from the moment I saw Parure de Nuit Poudre Pressée & Blush in the leaflet I received in August, I knew I had to have a piece of it. I was so excited but the excitement kind of subsided as time went by.

About a week and a half ago, the entire Guerlain Belle de Nuit Holiday Collection 2011 finally debuted at Takashimaya and my excitement came back. Although I must say, I was a little too busy to catch the debut.

So here it is. I present Parure de Nuit Poudre Pressée & Blush, retails at S$88 for 10g of product, made in Italy.

This 2-in-1 face and cheek palette consists of pale pink, white, deep pink and blue-green harmonies. Four shades decorated with an iridescent and translucent shower of stars, to form a universal harmony that gives the face a fascinating aura. Nestled in a black velvet suede-finish pouch lined in blue-green satin, the black lacquer case conceals an extremely soft brush made of blue-green goat hair.

In the above picture, you can see the “iridescent and translucent shower of stars” and the intricate details and carvings of the peacock feather. It’s such a beauty and I happen to have a habit to admire beauty as such for a long time before using it, so I am really sorry, there will be no swatches in this post.

However, you can find exceptional pictures, reviews and swatches on The Beauty Look Book, Delicate Hummingbird, Café Makeup and Messy Wands.

I can’t help but fall in love with it over and over again each time I open the lid and smell trails of familiar violet scent.

Above, I have the blue-green goat hair brush that comes with Parure de Nuit Poudre Pressée & Blush and the hot pink brush from Blush G Série Noire released this Spring.

Along with the Parure de Nuit Poudre Pressée & Blush, I also picked up a Rouge Automatique Hydrating Long-Lasting Lip Colour in 169 Flirt D’un Jour. Retails at S$50 for 3.5g of product, made in France.

Each Rouge Automatique bares a sophisticated powdered fragrance – fresh and floral notes associated with warmer base notes of vanilla and tonka beans. I like the texture and colour payoff of them, I am still thinking about getting it in 170 Nuit D’amour – a rich black berry shade which reminded me of Clinique’s Black Honey.

Did you pick anything up from this collection?

My boyfriend was pretty fascinated by Vol de Nuit Perfumed Shimmer Powder for Face & Body. He thought it was perfume and was waiting for it to dry. Bless him. I can tell, if it was meant for men, he would have gotten one. But then again, who said that it’s only for women?

Thank you for reading.

  1. This is the season for pretty face powders and highlighters. What a beautiful powder! Do you have the heart to use it? I’m the sort who will admire for the first 15 seconds and then start swatching and trying it out. I have no patience and lack self-control.

  2. I too, fell in love-at-first-sight with this collection. Since most or all of the products are LE, I got 2 of these blushes, 4 of the body powders that your boyfriend/husband likes, one of the Meteorites face powder just because I had to have the pretty blue tin it comes in and the dark lipstick that you’re thinking of getting. It ended up being too dark for me so I gave it to my son’s girlfriend. I love the quality of Guerlain makeup; one feels very special when applying it. I put these items out on my golden perfume tray so I can see them everyday.

Fine makeup and fragrance really are celebrations of femininity. We women do so much for others and we do a lot of grubby work such as dishes, laundry, bathroom cleaning, floor washing etc. that I think we all deserve some beautiful things as a counter-balance to the toughness of everyday life. Not to mention the periods, pregnancy and labor etc. For that , we deserve jewelry! Yes ladies, we DESERVE it!!!! So don’t scrimp on yourself; enjoy the good parts of being a woman and don’t feel guilty. You are worth every penny!

    • Wow Mimi, that’s a huge haul you got there..
Couldn’t agree more with what you have said, we deserve happiness, in this case, we deserve beautiful, luxurious makeup =)

  3. wow beautiful I think I will have to get it and how funny is that i always wait to use beautiful products as well how silly it is if you think about it we do buy them to use them not just to look :-) Thanks for posting. If you do ever get to swatching it I would love to see how it looks on you!

    • Hi Nawi,
I bet it took the designers and craftsmen months to produce these delicate pieces, so I think it’s only reasonable for us to admire before using?
Hehe.. It’s still in my drawer untouched =)
When the sun shines through my window, I take it out for a peep..
