Look With Guerlain La Sélection Couleur Makeup Palette

A quick, simple and neutral smoky eyes featuring the Guerlain La Sélection Couleur Makeup Palette (reviewed here) today and hello to the new hair style! I am also testing out a sample of Dior Capture Totale Sérum de Teint Foundation – shall gather my thoughts of this foundation for a quick review, so far, I am liking it.

I find the application method for this set of smoky eyes flatters many eye shapes and it’s easy and fast to achieve. Great start for a beginner. I love this method and once you have mastered this technique, you can use any other colours to create all sorts of looks.

Nail colour by Chanel - 533 April.

For face: I applied a layer of Diorsnow UV Shield BB Creme White Reveal UV Protection SPF 50 PA+++ as a base, followed by Dior Capture Totale Sérum de Teint SPF 15. Before I set my foundation with Diorskin NUDE Natural Glow Fresh Powder Makeup, I concealed my spots and dark circles with Clé de Peau BEAUTÉ Concealer.

For eyes: Prepped my lids with Laura Mercier Satinée Créme Eye Colour in Pink Chiffon and went in with the shimmery champagne from Guerlain La Sélection Couleur Makeup Palette all over the lids. I applied a black eyeliner along my upper lash line and blend with the metallic brown. Apply more metallic brown and blend upwards, towards the crease. Apply the lightest shade, iridescent beige under the brow bones and blend the two shades (iridescent beige and metallic brown) with the matte mid-tone beige.

Apply a black eyeliner 3/4 along the lower lash line and blend with the metallic brown. Soften the edges of metallic brown with the matte mid-tone beige. Apply some mascara and false eyelashes.

For cheeks & lips: Very natural and subtle cheeks. I went for Rouge Bunny Rouge Original Skin Blush in Habanera – applied it as a contour and blend the colour towards the apples of my cheeks. I also applied Guerlain Cruel Gardenia Météorites along the high points of my cheeks. I went for a nude lip for this look and the colour is from Guerlain La Sélection Couleur Makeup Palette as well.

Thank you for reading.

  1. Hi Joey :) Nice look you have there! Hope to try it myself one day. Hee. Btw, can you share where you normally cut your hair at? And which facial salon do you visit normally? Oh and 1 last qns, normally how long must i wait between each skincare before i go on to the next? 5 min in between? Thanks much.

    • Hi Stephanie,
      Thank you so much!!
I have replied your emails and I hope I have answered your questions =)
Feel free to pop me another email if you have more questions!!
      xoxo

  2. I love your fotds, you make everything look so effortless. How do you get your pictures to show up so well? Mine always looks so washed out. I find that I have to be very heavy handed with my make up in order for it to show in pictures.

    • Hi Jacqueline,
Thank you so much for your kind comments!!
Try to switch your camera to micro mode and use the camera flash if possible.
The down side of using flash is – your skintone (face and neck) might look different =(

  3. Thank you for the informative post. I also read some of your travel posts with the beautiful photos that you took. Which digital camera did you use to photograph your travels in Switzerland? I am very interested and impressed with the results (I’d like to do more research and maybe buy the same camera). Thanks!

    • Hi HYJ,
      Sorry for the late reply..
Thank you so much for popping by and commenting!!
The only camera I use for posts from 2011 onwards is my Canon PowerShot S95, it’s an awesome camera =)

  4. Hihi, where do you normally go for your haircut and facial?
Also, how long do you normally wait between each skincare? 5-10 minutes?

    • Hi Stephanie,
I have replied your emails, sorry to keep you waiting.
I cut my hair at Zinc, a salon at Centerpoint =)
Depending on the skincare product, I usually give it 2-3 minutes to settle down before layering another product on top..

  5. I see you’ve got cruel gardenia. You look radiant & I love april on your nails. I had recently splurged on CdP foundation & concealer & loose powder after reading your reviews. My Ang Pow money has all gone to CdP!
