A reader asked for a look suitable for attending wedding dinners and I think this look is quite presentable for that occasion. Personally, I don’t go for trendy looks when I attend weddings. I normally go for soft pinks, purples or browns unless it’s a theme wedding. I also try to avoid dark smoky eyes or red lips because I don’t want to attract unnecessary attention.

However, makeup is very subjective – most importantly, be confident and comfortable.

If you are attending a wedding or party, it’s best to find out where the location is and if possible, find out if there’s a theme. Try to settle your outfit prior to deciding your makeup and if you are going to get your hair done, what sort of style etc. At end of the day, your makeup, outfit and hair style should be viewed as one including your nail colour.

For me, I usually try to match my outfit with my makeup + nails, not much I can do with my hair tho – I like to play with the base tones. For example, in the look, I am wearing a mauve colour dress thus the purple shadow and nails.

Face
For occasions like wedding, most likely you will be taking many photos and it’s good to keep the face simple, natural, flawless and matte looking.

• If it’s going to be a long night, prep skin with sufficient moisture.
• Apply a primer to either minimize pores or reduce fine lines.
• Apply foundation.
• Set center of the face with a pale pink loose powder – this will help brighten up the under eye area, T-zone and chin.
• Set rest of the face with loose powder or lightly dust some press powder to set with a big, fluffy brush.

Eyes
I think soft smoky eyes look perfect in photographs and for wedding dinners. It’s not overly smoky yet it adds definition to the eyes – eyes look bigger in pictures rather than leaving the eyes al naturale. I am using Lunasol Petal Pure Eyes in 02 Clear Pink for this look.

• Apply the lightest shade under the brows to highlight.
• Apply taupe/brown all over lid.
• Tight line upper lash line with a black eyeliner – this will create an invisible eyeliner and make your lashes look fuller instantly.
• Use a deep purple eyeliner to line upper lash line.
• Use the deep purple shade to soften the edges of eyeliner.
• Apply deep purple eyeshadow to the outer corners of the eyes and blend with taupe/brown.
• Apply deep purple eyeshadow to 2/3 of lower lash line – blend with taupe/brown.
• Use a pencil brush to apply the pink eyeshadow to inner corners of the eyes.
• Apply mascara and some false eyelashes.

Cheeks
Very soft, barely there cheeks for this look using RMK Sprinkling Cheeks in 01 Pink.

• Apply blush along the cheek bones, blend.
• Use an angled brush to pick up the highlighter and dust over blush (only on the highest point of cheek bones) for extra dimension and glow.

Lips

• Prep lips with lip balm/primer/lip essence.
• Use a lip pencil to shape and fill in your lips – this will create a stain so when you eat and drink during the wedding, you will still have some lip colour on.
• Apply a nude pink lip colour and gloss to complete this look.
