Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Black Iris is released as part of their Violet Underground Makeup Collection For Fall 2012. For more collection details, please refer to this post.
Inspired by punk-rock and high fashion, the deep hue reinvents black with an avant-garde violet twist. The rich combination drenches nails for a look that screams glam rock from head to toe.
Retailing at S$26 for 9ml of product, made in France.
Black Iris is deep, rich byzantium with a cream finish. This shade is almost black under certain lighting but the hint of purple still shines through beautifully. It is deep, dark and mysterious – perfect for this season.
Texture of Black Iris is smooth and relatively easy to apply. I did not experience any streaking nor difficulties in applying but this shade is no one-coater. Three thin coats can achieve perfectly full and smooth coverage but two medium coats do the trick too.
Consistency of this shade is nice and thick just like most of my other Estée Lauder nail polishes.
This shade also has a glossy finish even without applying any top coat. Overall, very pretty in terms of quality but I think this shade is not truly unique – perhaps you may easily find similar shades from OPI and China Glaze.
From October onwards, it will be a rather exciting time for Estée Lauder as they will be launching more new nail lacquer shades. I will be reviewing a selected few and I can’t wait to share swatches of them – I am particularly loving shades from their upcoming Metal Mania collection.
Thank you for looking.
