Birthday Celebration At NOOK House Of Pancakes

My niece and I share the same birthday but 26 years apart.

This year, she had a “Mermaid” themed birthday party at school with a 3kg Mermaid cake. My sister and I also personally hand filled Jelly Belly for rest of the kids. It was tedious filling them narrow plastic sleeves but it was worth every minute.

FYI, we spent 4 hours filling 50 sachets.

Her birthday party at school was on Friday and on Saturday, we went NOOK House Of Pancakes to celebrate.

And that morning, I woke up to a bouquet of black roses from Holland. My very first bouquet and I love the velvety smooth petals. I have never seen natural black roses before – I was expected something darker? But anyway, love. Many thanks to Mak.

Little niece received her first bouquet of pink baby roses too.

The first DIY pancake house in Singapore. NOOK’s mission is to bring an interactive and fun pancake and brunch experience to everyone.

Parking around that area was a challenge, especially over the weekend. Once you have your parking sorted, this place is very easy to find. This place is spacious and by 7pm, it was filled with people – from couples to families of 6 and more.

We ordered 2 sets of 2 Flavoured Pancakes with 3 toppings each and a Bacon Bits Caeser Salad.

Let’s get creative and start doodling.

Once we started creating our own pancakes, the heat is on – I felt extremely hot, would be great if the air-condition is cooler. And we thought the pan wasn’t very child friendly – as in, if it was a built-in pan that flushes with the table would be better?

Having said that, we actually had lots of fun and yes, it was an interactive session.

Despite all the fun we had, pancakes are still pancakes – not exactly satisfying enough as a dinner eh? And so, we went for another round of proper food.

Our Birthday 2013 (7)

To end the fabulous night, we watched Oblivion.

It’s a long movie but I enjoyed every bit of it. The story line is relatively straight forward and I love seeing all the hi-tech gadgets – the swimming pool is gorgeous. Have you watched it yet?

  1. What a wonderful birthday for a little girl. She is obviously very loved. Is that her mom in the black t shirt? Is she your sister or Mak’s sister? It was fun to see the guys enjoying themselves making a green outer space alien looking pancake! I haven’t heard of the movie “Oblivion” but it looks like something that will go over well at my house with a husband and two sons!

    • Hi Mimi,
Yes, her mother (my sister) is the one in black!!
LOL.. we were just doodling around, kinda hungry waiting for the pancakes to be done one by one!!
Tom Cruise acted in Oblivion and I think it’s nice, not sure if the gents will like it tho because there isn’t any hardcore action, more sci-fic..
Have a wonderful week ahead xx
