Dior Christmas Party 2010 – The Event

I received a mailer from Dior a few weeks ago. It’s an invitation for Dior’s annual Christmas Party at the Raffles Hotel last Saturday afternoon. Invitations for makeovers and parties always come through my mail box but I have never been to one. The programme highlights for this particular party caught my interest and they are;-

  • Discover the latest styling tips and trends through a hair styling demo conducted by hair maestro, Shunji Matsuo
  • Learn the tips on creating a gilded, glamorous look this festive season with Dior’s make-up experts
  • Be inspired by the sensual Latin moves in a salsa performance by Jitterbugs
  • Put on your dancing shoes and salsa your heart out with the guidance of Jitterbugs dance instructors
  • Stand a chance to walk away with a Dior couture bag as well as other attractive prizes in the Christmas lucky draw
  • Be privy to exclusive Christmas deals and coffets during the party
  • Enjoy a selection of delectable high tea delights and receive an exclusive Dior door gift

So, I thought, why not give it a try? It cost S$50 for a person and S$40 each for two and the registration fee is fully redeemable on Dior’s products. I got Jessie to come along with me too as we were really excited about the Salsa performance and hair styling demo.

The party starts at 4pm and it was already packed by 3:30pm. The snacks were really nice. I had a plateful of delicious cakes and sandwich.

We didn’t manage to grab the front seats and the lightings were too dim for my camera to capture clear pictures, so sorry about that. The party started with Shunji Matsuo’s hair demo. He gave some tips on the upcoming Spring/Summer 2011 hair trends and suggests we should all switch our shampoo and conditioner every once in a while for healthier hair.

Ladies, copper will be the “it” colour next year. If you have short hair, de-constructive bob will be in trend and big curls for those with long hair. Shunji Matsuo also mentioned a new technology called “nano-perm” which minimises damage done to the hair when perming.

After the hair styling demo, it’s the makeup demo. Han demonstrated a smokey eye makeup look with the Limited Edition Dior Minaudiere in Pink Golds on the model. What a coincidence, I was using the same palette that day too but in a much softer and subtle way.

He mentioned a great way to avoid eyeliners from smudging is to apply it with a brush. And use our palm to press onto our face after applying liquid foundation with a brush because the heat on our palm will help smoothen the foundation and settle it into our skin.

Lastly, it was the salsa performance by Jitterbugs. Reminded us of the good-old-days, the fun we had during our salsa lessons.

Before the lucky draw took place, there was a mini break. Had a little snack again, delicious.

So, here it is, our very first Dior event. I enjoyed the food, the demo and performances. Not to mention it’s at the Raffles Hotel!! Such an amazing place. Now that I have been to my first, am more open to other events and parties in the future.

Thank you for reading.
