My 5 All Time Favourites For January 2011

We have come to the end of January 2011. Time seems to fly away faster and faster doesn’t it? It’s time to share some of my favourite products of the month. Nothing overly exciting about the 5 products I have here but they are what I turn to most for the entire first month of 2011.

I have a love-hate relationship with the MAC Caviar Dreams Eyeshadow Quad. I fell in love with the colour combination and it was love-at-first-sight for one of the eyeshadows in Caviar Dreams. But when I used it for the first time, I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. The colours didn’t turn out brilliantly and there were fall outs during application, making it a little messy. But after several attempts and with the aid of a primer, I began to love this quad because it’s so easy to use. The colours are rather natural and it’s great for all occasions – not to mention Brule is such an amazing shade for highlighting and it can be applied as an overall base colour. It looks super lovely when paired with brighter and bolder lips.

The MAC Viva Glam Cyndi Lipstick is nothing new and it has been in the drawer for a while. I love how subtle the hue is, nothing overwhelming. Makes me feel like a woman when wearing it!

It looks just like any ordinary black nail polish with a little green shimmer in the bottle but I tell you, Chanel Nail Colour in Black Pearl is something you shouldn’t miss. Well, unless you have something similar. This shade looks fabulous when applied. I was amazed by the complexity of the colour which I gave up trying to describe. Here is what Temptalia describes it – a stormy teal-tinged blackened base with threads of metallic silvered green running through it, then topped off with green, blue and teal micro-shimmer.

One of the newest foundation by Chanel, Chanel Vitalumiére Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15. It has a new-generation texture which creates an unprecedented sensory experience. What I love about the foundation is, it’s quick and easy to apply. The texture is soft, fine and smooth. It sits into my skin really well, my complexion appears more even, refreshed and energized. Will do a more detailed write-up on this product soon. Meanwhile, check out one of Pixiwoo’s latest video on Guide to Chanel Foundations above.

And lastly, I love MAC Cream Colour Bases. I bought all the 4 shades from MAC Stylishly Yours Collection earlier this month. I love all 4 of them but my favourite shade would be Virgin Isle, followed by Tickle Me Pink, Movie Star Red and my least favourite would be Madly Magenta. Virgin Isle creates a subtle glow to my cheeks. Tickle Me Pink and Movie Star Red create a subtle sheen with a natural blush effect which I absolutely adore. I find Madly Magenta a little more difficult to wear as it tend to make my skin look pale, got to explore this shade a little more. For those who are worried about it being oily, sticky etc. don’t be, lightly dust some loose powder over to set.

Thank you for reading and what are your favourites this month?

  1. Have 3 of them and love it!
Same impressions as yours for the quad Caviar Dreams. I think I should use a primer for the colour to be a little bit more intense. But yes they’re lovely and so easy to use.
Just bought the Black Pearl 2 weeks ago. It was love at first sight 😉
I only have Virgin isle from MAC Stylishly Yours Collection. It would be perfect for this summer!
