My 5 All Time Favourites For April 2011

This month of favourites consist of several products I bought recently, Chanel Perfect Brows, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine and Make Up For Ever HD Elixir. I finally own the entire Make Up For Ever HD range and I am very excited about my current base routine – I may need to do a separate post about that sometime next week.

Chanel Le Sourcil de Chanel Perfect Brows in 20 Brun is to replace my Make Up Store Tri Brow Colour. I have been using Make Up Store Tri Brow Colour on and off for the last 2 years and it’s not hitting pan. Due to hygiene purposes, I have decided to let go of it. But before I ditched the old, I was looking hard for a replacement. I wanted a brow kit which is portable and consists of powder shades. I am aware that several brands have brow kits which fits the bill, for example, Benefit Brows a-go-go and Brow Zings, Smashbox Brow Tech Trio or even The Body Shop’s Brow & Liner Kit.

But none I mentioned above have 3 shades which I prefer. To keep things simple, I could have gotten the same one but I wanted to try Chanel’s because the powder feels so different. Unlike typical powder shadows, the powder in Chanel’s brow kit is harder, kind of require a little more strength to get it out of the pan. This also makes it a tad less messy and I can never over-do with the shades.

Why do I prefer a 3 tone brow kit? I usually start off with the lightest shade from the tip of the brows and as I blend towards the peak, I use the medium shade and mix it with the darkest shade towards the end of the brow. Sometimes I prefer lighter brows, could be due to a certain look I want to achieve or darker brows if I am having a very simple, neutral look. This way, I can mix and match the colours according to my preferences and adjust the density.

No doubt Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy will be in the list this month. It’s a gorgeous shade and has a lovely texture. It can be worn with practically any looks – from smoky eyes to a simple, natural look. Probably one of the best everyday lipsticks out there.

I have been using Make Up For Ever HD Powder for a long time. I love how finely milled this powder is and it sets foundation without being cakey. I wish Make Up For Ever can come up with a pressed version of this product as it would have been so much easier to carry out for touch-ups. I like to use the HD Powder as a finishing powder – not necessarily to set foundation only. After I finish my makeup, I dust a thin layer of HD Powder all over the face for an even, camera ready finish.

I recently purchased Make Up For Ever HD Elixir to complete my HD makeup range. And I am liking it. The HD Elixir is serum that goes on the skin first before a primer and it can also replace a moisturizer if you have oily skin. The formula is hydrating and gentle enough to be applied around the eye area. Can I say this product is a hybrid of makeup and skincare?

Lastly, we have Make Up For Ever HD Primer. It comes in 7 colour-correcting shades and I have #2 and #5. I use #2 to reduce the redness and sallowness on my skin – result, healthier looking complexion. When I need a more radiant finish, I use #5.

What are your favourites this month?

  1. Totally agree with your observation on Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy. I’ve been wearing it everyday for work. I’m a fan of dark eye makeup so a neutral-ish lipstick really helps 🙂

I’ve never tried anything from MUFE. I have MAC’s Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder which I believe is similar to the HD powder. It really does make a difference.

    You have good taste 🙂

  2. Where can you find MUFE in Singapore? Sorry, I’ve migrated to Oz and not up to date with SG at the moment…

I am only aware that Sephora opened in SG last year but I’ve not been there yet…

Did you get MUFE at Sephora?
