A new generation of powders by Yves Saint Laurent in a luxurious case. A magical encounter of colour and water. Mixed, superimposed, smudged and blended, used wet or dry – PURE CHROMATICS eyeshadows adapt to any transformation. To process the formula of PURE CHROMATICS eyeshadows, Yves Saint Laurent uses water and a high concentration of pigments and pearls. Upon application, water remoisturizes the eyeshadow and gives full intensity to its pigments while pearls shine with a metallic reflection.
Yves Saint Laurent
Seems like many companies are developing eyeshadows which promises high pigmentation. Powder eyeshadows which feels creamy to touch just like the Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eyeshadows, Lancome Ombre Magnetique and MAC Mega Metal Shadow. I was lucky to be able to pick up one of the 6 NEW Yves Saint Laurent PURE CHROMATICS Eyeshadow Palettes when I was in Hong Kong. The 6 palettes are beautiful, I had a hard time selecting the one.
I tested some of the shades dry and wet, I must say, there is a huge difference for some shades. Good and bad, depending on your preferences. It doesn’t bother me too much. I can apply colours dry as a highlight or base and apply them wet as an accent colour.
Each palette has its own character and works well together. I picked up #6 which includes a moss-green, bronze gold, dusty rose and a gorgeous eggplant. The packaging is similar to their range of Rouge Pur Couture – gold casing. It comes with 2 applicators – one for dry application and the other for wet – which is soft and bendable, feels rubbery tho and for the first time, I felt like using this applicator that comes with the palette. I wonder how it applies.
Swatches taken indoor with flash. Swatched dry in the picture above and wet in the picture below.
Much difference? Let’s put them side by side. I used my fingers for the dry swatches and I used a semi-wet flat brush for the wet. The colours became a lot denser and richer when used wet.
I am very impressed with the quality of the eyeshadows. There are so finely milled, when using a damp brush, it feels like watercolour. The powder doesn’t choke up the brush or turn chunky. It glides on smoothly and doesn’t slide. And because these eyeshadows are designed to get wet, it doesn’t leave a nasty patch (if you know what I mean).
Will be doing a look featuring this palette soon. Each palette retails at HKD550 which works out to be about S$92.
Thank you for reading.
