Chanel Topkapi Vs Urban Decay NAKED, Lunasol Shelly Ocean & Others

Hello everyone, as promised I have allocated a little time this morning for a swatch fest comparing Regard Signé de Chanel in Topkapi with Urban Decay NAKED Palette, Lunasol Ocean Scene Eyes in Shelly Ocean and other singles I have in my stash.

But please note that the purpose of this post isn’t to find a dupe but to compare, appreciate and view similar shades put together. I pulled out shades based on a similar texture, undertone, colour and/or finish so they may not look identical. Sit back, relax and enjoy all the following swatches – feel free to suggest other shades which you think will fit in, I have tried my best in each set.

From left to right: shimmery brown from Regard Signé de Chanel in TopkapiGuerlain Ombre Éclat in 187 L’instant D’un Soupir, Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in 15 Black Plum, Urban Decay Smog from NAKED Palette, Urban Decay Sidecar from NAKED Palette, MAC Veluxe Pearl Eyeshadow in Twinks and Shu Uemura Pressed Eyeshadow in P Gold 350.

Guerlain Ombre Éclat in 187 L’instant D’un Soupir appears to be the closest as compared to the rest but darker and warmer.

From left to right: shimmery taupe from Regard Signé de Chanel in Topkapi, MAC Mega Metal Shadow in Prance, Urban Decay Sidecar from NAKED Palette, Sisley Phyto-Ombre Éclat in 10 Quartz, Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in 9 Fawn, shimmery taupe from Lunasol Ocean Scene Eyes in Shelly Ocean and Urban Decay Sin from NAKED Palette.

For this set, I would say Urban Decay Sidecar from NAKED Palette comes close but lack of the taupe.

From left to right: gold from Regard Signé de Chanel in Topkapi, Dior Ultra-Smooth High Impact Eyeshadow in 616 Golden Spotlight, Urban Decay Half Baked from NAKED Palette, Shu Uemura Pressed Eyeshadow in G Gold, Shu Uemura Pressed Eyeshadow in ME Yellow 300, Illamasqua Pure Pigment in Marvel and MAC Pigment in Golden Lemon.

The gold from Regard Signé de Chanel in Topkapi seems to be rather unique compared to rest of the golds I have. I couldn’t find anything that came close although I thought Dior Ultra-Smooth High Impact Eyeshadow in 616 Golden Spotlight and Shu Uemura Pressed Eyeshadow in G Gold would.

From left to right: deep brown from Regard Signé de Chanel in Topkapi, MAC Mega Metal Shadow in Unflappable, deep brown from Lunasol Ocean Scene Eyes in Shelly Ocean, Bobbi Brown Metallic Eyeshadow in 79 Black Cocoa, Urban Decay Darkhorse from NAKED Palette, Urban Decay Hustle from NAKED Palette and NARS Single Eyeshadow in Bali.

The deep brown from Regard Signé de Chanel in Topkapi has an almost undetectable purple undertone to it in my opinion. The slight purple undertone becomes more obvious when swatched next to deeper, warmer browns like the one in Lunasol Ocean Scene Eyes in Shelly Ocean.

Overview between Regard Signé de Chanel in Topkapi and Urban Decay NAKED Palette.

All the 4 shades from Regard Signé de Chanel in Topkapi shares the same velvety, soft, smooth and buttery texture which I feel are similar to the Urban Decay NAKED Palette. In terms of colour payoff, I think it’s equivalent to the Urban Decay NAKED Palette if not better. Although the gold from Regard Signé de Chanel in Topkapi may seem glittery, it’s not gritty at all.

I hope this post will give those who are unsure about getting the Regard Signé de Chanel in Topkapi a clearer picture of the colours and finishes.

Thank you for reading.

  1. You’re so kind 🙂 Thanks for going through your stash and coming up with this comparison. It really helps. The Topkapi quad will not be available in Norway here, so I don’t think I’m going to try to hunt it down with my online shopping skills 🙂 Nevertheless, it definitely looks like a beautiful quad. Enjoy.

  2. Very informative, thanks for all your effort, Joey! This is what makes blog surfing & reading enjoyable & enlightening! This kind of post deserves some sort of recommendation, recognition & knighthood from the beauty kingdom. My gracious Dame Joey.

  3. Omg thats for the showing the differences and the more i want to get the Chanel Topkapi! May i know the price for it?

  4. The colours in the second picture are lovely! My personal favourite out of all of them has to be Urban Decay’s Sidecar or Lunasol Ocean Scene Eyes in Shelly Ocean, the two shades are both so pretty 🙂

  5. So very helpful! This was just what I needed to compare the UD palette and whether I was going to purchase the Topkapi.

  6. thank you for doing this post, i appreciate the effort in finding similar shades and textures to match topkapi. I have both Topkapi and Shelly Ocean, but both are untouched as of date. reading your post makes me want to use them ASAP! 😛
