What Have I Been Up To Lately?

Trying to humanize the robots – failed. I mean, I can’t bare the thoughts that robots have blood gushing out and saliva drooling. And, what’s with the scarf? But, I think Transformers: Dark Of The Moon is actually more entertaining than the second one, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, except the fact that Megan Fox is fired. Don’t even get me started with the new lady – what’s her name again?

I always find it difficult to think of a title when it comes to updates of myself. Perhaps I shall start naming them Weekly Updates? Sounds boring right? Anyway, good morning everyone, it’s Friday today – hurray to the weekend!! For those who works over the weekend, good luck to you – weekend is where the sales are, grab them.

So what have I been up to lately?

I shall start with some events that happened from May which I have not gotten around with. Just some short, quick updates.

Celebrated my sister’s birthday end of May at the Ju Shin Jung Korean BBQ Restaurant at West Coast. It’s our first visit and they pretty much screwed up our reservations. Besides that, food weren’t as great as we thought although our entire table was filled with food.

Little niece can walk on her own now and she’s getting really cheeky but we all love her laughter. Her 8th teeth is showing up and she’s learning how to talk. Still refuses to call me “阿姨” means aunty but whenever she sees me, she says “抱抱” means carry in Chinese.

It’s always a pleasure to catch up with old friends and have some deserts and beer during the weekends. Coffee at Brotzeit tastes awful – stick to the beer.

Deserts at Mozza are super pricy not that they tastes so good that’s worth the price. But the atmosphere and ambient is beautiful, definitely feels out of Singapore.

Moving on to recent weeks, I have started watching football. Oh my, I was never into football. For someone like me, who doesn’t even watch the World Cup, I think it’s pretty amazing that I went to watch 2 football matches. Many thanks to my sister for getting us the tickets.

The first match was Gombak United FC vs Albirex Niigata FC on the 4 July. It was a great match tho Albirex Niigate trashed Gombak United. Both teams put up a game.

The second match that I went for was Etoile FC vs Home United FC the week after. I didn’t enjoy this match at all – most of the time spent picking and throwing balls, not to mention many of them players had jelly legs.

Anyway, who am I to talk about football? I am not an expert but I did enjoy the live atmosphere with all the cheering and blowing of horns. I can see myself watching more matches in the future. And it reminds me of the days I used to play netball and basketball for my school – I know, not many can imagine me running around especially I am merely 1.6m tall.

So, let’s talk about something I am better at – makeup.

I have gathered a few more collections for Fall by various other brands for you, they will be introduced throughout this month on this blog. Some already have been published and some will come later. I am trying to get more information from the brands, like date of release and prices but they are not always accurate.

I can see a lot of products I am interested in purchasing from the Fall collections. Brands like Chanel, NARS and YSL have come up with irresistible combinations, new products and colours that will make me go all crazy with. On the other hand, MAC has kind of lost its magic – although I picked up several items from their recent collections, they are not items that totally blew me away. I got them because I think it will be useful in my kit. Whereas if it’s the Chanel Fall collection, I would have gotten everything without having second thoughts – whether I need or not, just buy.

Not that I will pick up everything from Chanel, just setting an example of my feelings, if you know what I mean.

Last week, I reorganised my entire makeup storage area. It was such a shame, I didn’t take photos of my old makeup space. The one above was extracted from my Twitter account.

I used to store my personal makeup in my toilet, by the window – how unhealthy but I didn’t have other places to store them. I organised them according to product in the Muji drawers. I have a drawer for blushers, one for eyeshadows and another for palettes, one for primers and another for foundations.

Muji drawers are great for storing makeup but I have shifted all of them into proper drawers which allows me to spread them out – which is easier to pull out products for comparisons and to use. I used to store my lipsticks and blushers in the deeper Muji drawers which can get quite troublesome to take a product out and put back. Sometimes I even forget I have that certain shade in my stash.

How do you store your makeup? Do you use Muji drawers or similar storage system?

I have also updated the list of My Foundation Shades, including links to those which have been reviewed. Looking forward to share my thoughts on more base makeup products if you like. Currently testing Givenchy Photo’Perfexion Light. And I might get another bottle of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua because B40 Desert is a tad too dark for my skintone now – bought it after my sun burnt last year.

Thank you for reading.

  1. Hi Joey

Could u make a comparison of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua to Mat lumiere compact foundation in shade 40 sable? Would they be a close match to each other? Thought of asking a friend to grab the vitalumiere at DFS…
    Many thanks?

    • Hi Jumie,
I do not have MAT LUMIERE Luminous Matte Powder Makeup SPF 10 in 40 to compare with VITALUMIERE AQUA Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in B40 Desert.
From what I have, they are different. I am somewhat between 20 – 30 for Chanel foundations at the moment, 40 is too dark for me now.
      Hope this helps!!

  2. Hey babe!
I stored my makeup in the Muji drawers too!
I think Muji drawers are beauty blogger’s best friends! *lol
