Featured in one of Pixiwoo‘s favourites video here, are the new Smashbox Limitless Lip Stain & Color Seal Balm. Retails at S$38 each and I got colours in Guava and Sangria. They are available in 6 shades.
The Smashbox Limitless Lip Stain & Color Seal Balm is a two-in-one product and it’s said to be feather resistant that won’t budge for 8 hours. It comes with a very emollient balm that can be worn alone or over the stain for a lustrous touch. The vibrant tint of colour is designed to mimic the look of photo gels on set in their studios.
They are somewhat similar to the Pro Longwear Lipstain Markers from MAC Art Supplies Collection but the colours are more vivid and vibrant, even after they have dried. And of course, the lip balm at the other end of these lip stains made the huge difference.
Guava seems to stain more compared to Sangria but they both do feather slightly on my arm during swatching as well as on my lips.
Swatches above taken indoor without flash and below taken indoor with flash.
The lip balm itself doesn’t have much colour but when applied over the lip stain, it creates a really pretty sheen and filled up the lines.
A little tip extracted from Smashbox website – To ensure color lasts for up to 8 hours, make sure lips are dry and clean of any other products. Then, fill in lips with the stain and allow it to dry completely. Finally, apply the balm to refresh color. For less saturated color, simply apply the balm alone for a sheer wash.
After I cleaned off the swatches, Guava stain stayed on my arm for the next 10 – 12 hours.
I like the idea of lip stains worn under a lipstick but they look great even on its own – provided you have wonderful, well moisturized lips. I have dry lips and when the stain starts to wear off, it looked horrible. To counter this problem, I usually exfoliate my lips and apply a thin layer of lip balm before I start my makeup routine. By the time I am done with my makeup, my lips will be well moisturized and ready for the lip stain – remember to gently wipe of access lip balm prior to applying your lip stain.
