MAC Cosmetics

This post is somewhat overdue since this collection debut last month? However, I would like to share with you my thoughts about MAC Paint Pot in Genuine Treasure and how I normally wear it.

MAC Paint Pot in Genuine Treasure is the only item I picked up from the collection. It’s a glittery bronze with golden flecks. When applied, it’s almost like molten bronze – very three-dimensional and I love its complexity but due to its glittery nature, the texture is slightly gritty and doesn’t blend evenly.

I usually wear it alone and this is how I like to wear it;-

  • Apply Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Birthday Suit all over the lid, up to the brow bones
  • Apply a thin layer of MAC Paint Pot in Genuine Treasure to the lid and blend upwards
  • Let the 1st layer of MAC Paint Pot in Genuine Treasure dry
  • Gently pat on the 2nd layer of MAC Paint Pot in Genuine Treasure
  • Instead of using a black eyeliner, I have chosen a deep navy blue one. I am using MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Prussian
  • Soften the eyeliner with a matching eyeshadow. I am using NARS Matte Eyeshadow in China Blue
  • Finish with some mascara and false eyelashes. I am using Ardell False Eyelashes in 120 Demi Black

On rest of the face, I have;-

  • Shu Uemura Stage Performer Instant-Glow
  • Shu Uemura UV Under Base Mousse
  • Shu Uemura Face Architect Illuminating Moisture Fluid Foundation
  • Shu Uemura Face Powder Matte
  • NARS Blush in Taos
  • NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita

Like most, if not all of the MAC Paint Pots, the formula lasts all day without smudging nor creasing. I am impressed with the durability and flexibility – it can be worn alone or as a base. After playing with this product for some time, I do feel that it’s best to apply with fingers – you can achieve better results, more even and opaque than using a brush.

How do you wear your MAC Paint Pot in Genuine Treasure?

Thank you for reading.

  1. Thank you! I’ve been having issues with this naughty paint pot as I couldn’t get it to layer well on my eyelids. I tried to remove it when it wasn’t looking good, at 6.30am in the morning (I wear crazy makeup to work as it’s how I motivate myself to get out of bed on dark, cold, windy days) but it resulted in chunks of glitter all over my face. It didn’t occur to me to let the layer dry and add another layer on top 🙂 You’re a paint-pot-saver. I shall try it again this weekend.

Happy Friday and I hope you have a good weekend.

  2. You look gorgeous! MAC Genuine Treasure is very versatile… when I’m in a hurry I use it as eyeshadow but it’s lovelier as an eyeshadow base. 🙂

  3. You know I have never been into the MAC Paint Pots, I like other cream eyeshadows but just not the Paint pots. I’m just spellbound by the yellow nails, now I must have yellow polish too.

    • Hi D,
I don’t have many Paint Pots either, only 4?
I like Benefit Cream Shadows and I have almost the entire range of colours but MAC Genuine Treasure is fun =)
I am totally in the mustard kick recently..
