NARS Duo Eyeshadow In Grand Palais

Released together as part of NARS Makeup Collection For Fall 2011, I was drawn to NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Grand Palais immediately. Rose and taupe are my best friends, I need this duo and so I got it together with NARS Single Eyeshadow in Outremer (reviewed here) and NARS Trio Eyeshadow in Delphes (reviewed here). Amonsgt the three sets of eyeshadows I bought, Grand Palais is the most outstanding one in terms of quality, texture and colour payoff.

NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Grand Palais consists of;-

  • shimmery mid-tone beige taupe
  • matte dusty rose with a slightest hint of brown undertone

They are a perfect couple if you ask me. Can be worn alone or together.

This duo is extremely wearable in my opinion, depending on how you use it and which colour you are more comfortable with emphasizing on. Whether you choose the taupe or rose, the outcome will still be spectacular. There are many ways to create a look with this duo. If you are more conservative, you can apply the taupe all over the lids and use a small amount of rose to accentuate the crease. If you like a more romantic look, you can apply the rose shade all over the lid and layer taupe over to subdue the brightness of the rose shade.

I did a little swatch project with my single eyeshadows the other day trying to find something similar. I don’t think I have found one.

Chanel 87 Taupe Grisé is way darker, Bobbi Brown Fawn 9 and MAC Shale has more of a purple under tone and MAC Satin Taupe has more frost. The one that came pretty close is Sisley Quartz 10 but very much lack of a shimmery sheen.

I also went through my collection of eyeshadows searching for a similar dusty rose shade. To my surprise, I don’t have anything that even came close – I thought I do. And this made Grand Palais such a unique palette to own.

Overall, love. NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Grand Palais is very unique to me and I love both shades very much. Hope the swatches and comparisons above helped you visualize the colours better.

Did you get one for yourself too? What about from their Holiday collection? I haven’t found anything I couldn’t live without, maybe the cream eyeshadow, blush and the red lipstick?

Thank you for reading.

  1. Hi Joey! Thanks so much for your hard work and taking time to swatch these lovely shadows under different lighting. 🙂

  2. MRT track! Heheheh.
I have Grand Palais too and I keep thinking that’s summer collection, and my Mandchourie is the Fall collection, but no no no no — after Fall collection, we now have Holiday collection AND Christmas collection… so many goodies to look forward to! :p Always so much to look forward too each season.

    Lovely swatches & comparisons! 🙂

  3. I actually got this shadow last week, I had to special order it since it was limited edition. I can’t say that I love it just yet. For some reason I thought it would have a brighter redder quality, mine looks almost plum. I think it’s a good shadow, but I must have been expecting something different.
