The Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa

When we were at Interlaken, the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa was our home.

The Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa was first a private home, then a guest house and now, a grand hotel. This historic hotel enjoys a magnificent location on the avenue-lined Höheweg, at the foot of the eternal snows of the Jungfrau Massif. For more than 145 years the hotel has maintained its leading position in the luxury hotel segment.

What began in 1856 with the purchase of the Victoria Guesthouse gradually evolved into one of Europe’s grandest hotels.

I love everything about this hotel. From the design, decoration to the spacious layout and Christmas lightings. It feels very romantic at night and I can’t help but think of Twilight – the first episode, during prom where Edward and Belle danced. Every corner is filled with intricate details, be it some form of sculpture or flower arrangement – or a dining table filled with Santa feasting.

Our rooms include daily breakfasts at the Restaurant La Terrasse – high ceilings with very light and airy atmosphere, perfect for breakfast – the environment freshens me up instantly. The buffet style breakfast consists of salad, yogurt, bread, cakes, eggs, bacon and hash brows. Simple yet delicious.

All our rooms are slightly different and here is what my room looks like. Light blue walls with white upholstery and curtains, extremely uplifting. Pictured below is the view from my room’s window at 6:45 in the morning when daylight is just breaking in. Stunning view from the 3rd floor.

On our first and last night at Interlaken, we had our dinner at one of the hotel’s restaurants – La Pastateca.

The restaurant features an interior design characterised by clear architectural lines, a hint of italianità and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. A truly Mediterranean feeling, right in the heart of Interlaken. We enjoyed some fresh Italian pasta, meat and fish dishes together with a generous salad buffet.

Choices of food at Restaurant La Pastateca were rather limited but very well-edited. Every dish is very well presented and delicious. My favourite is their Pasta Gnocchi with chicken breast strips and white herb-balsamic sauce.

Desserts pictured below includes Remember Last Summerpoached saffron peach with pistachio ice-cream and raspberry pulp and Soda mit Pfiff featuring soda with mango-passion fruit pulp and sherbet.

Our stay at the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa was fabulous.

The hotel provides two computers with internet access at the lobby, the rooms we booked do not have free wi-fi – prepaid cards can be purchased at the hotel reception. Staffs were quite friendly and helpful. This five-star hotel welcomes your pets too. They also provide free child-minding services at the hotel’s own kindergarten.

What else can we ask for? I secretly ask for free wi-fi in the rooms so I can get connected with the boyfriend and my sis can Tango little niece.

Thank you for reading.
