My 5 All Time Favourites For December 2011

Hello everyone, this will be the last post of the year and here, I bring you 5 products I enjoyed using this month.

First, I have NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita. I love NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils and I have a post all about them here. I have been wearing Dolce Vita so much this month, for my trip to Switzerland and Hong Kong. The colour is very wearable for all occasions, day or night, with dark, smoky eyes or natural. This shade brightens up my complexion, adds colour to my face and if I can only choose one lip colour for the next month, it would be Dolce Vita.

A lot of the time, I try to avoid purchasing items from a new brand – brands I have not explored. Because once I fell in love with my first purchase, I will be obsessed with the line and keep buying and trying other products. Lunasol is a great example. I am totally in love with their newly launched eyeshadow palette – the Lunasol Three-Dimensional Eyes in Cool Beige. You can find a look featuring this palette here and my thoughts, including swatches here.

Lunasol Three-Dimensional Eyes retails at S$77 for 4g of product.

I recently purchased Ettusais Lip Essence Stick to replace my nearly finished lip balm and I love it. It is not scented and it wears perfectly under any lipsticks. It contains spherical pink pearl particles that plays with light, making my lips look more supple and pink. It also helps reduce the appearance of lines on my lips. Perfect for my dry lips, it moisturises and help protect lips from harmful UV rays with a SPF of 18 PA++.

If you find NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils or other matte lipsticks drying, try wearing Ettusais Lip Essence Stick under. I think it really helped. Ettusais Lip Essence Stick is not too glossy, perfect for pairing with a dryer, matte finish lipstick.

Ettusais Lip Essence Stick retails at S$26 for 3g of product, made in Japan.

Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Kiss, featured previously in March together with the shade, Rumour here. If you ask me what are the must-try products from Illamasqua, their Powder Blusher is definitely on the list because they are incredible. Soft, smooth, pigmented and lasts throughout the day. A little goes a long way, I don’t think I will ever finish their 4.5g pan of blush – a gentle tap with a brush is all I need for natural looking cheeks.

I brough Kiss to Switzerland and the pan broke during transit from Interlaken to Zürich. I am just glad that I managed to salvage majority of the product because Kiss is no longer listed on Illamasqua’s site.

Some time this year, my scalp started to itch. I was trying to figure what was the cause and I believe it was due to a particular shampoo I tried. Because I switch shampoo so often, I couldn’t pin point the exact one, only a rough idea. My scalp seems dry and whenever I sweat, it itches. The feeling is disgusting and I was very worried. From then, I stopped switching shampoo so frequently.

One day, Mak and I were shopping at L’Occitane and we discovered the Soothing Concentrated Mask for sensitive scalp – decided to try it and it worked. I am extremely impressed with the needle-like tip as it gets in between my hair, straight to the scalp. Initially, I use it every alternate days and after a few months, itching stopped significantly. Now, I only use it once every two weeks as a scalp treatment. Upon contact with scalp, there is a cooling effect – very relaxing.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

Thank you for reading.

  1. Your post has gotten me to search for NARS lip pencils swatches, I’m seriously contemplating getting Red Square and Dolce Vita. I’m not sure if Dolce Vita will show up as well on me as it did for you, I’m between a nc 30 to 35, what do you think. I had issues with the Urban Decay lip pencils which were drying and super tough to remove, did you have problems with these? While surfing for these I also came across the gloss version, have you tried them? New Lover looks very pretty. Thanks for sharing your favs, happy new year!
