Hello everyone, here comes another episode of beauty picks for the season – sort of last season, Spring. I am always a season late as by the time I have purchased all the products, tried and tested them, it’s about time the next season’s collections launch. Not to say that we are not even into Summer yet and we are already previewing Fall collections.
Which ever it is, I have my beauty picks for Spring 2012 for you.
Every season, more and more brands are releasing quality and interesting products which I am very happy to see and explore. Of course, some are more beautiful and worth looking at compared to others.
For example, Dior released the Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Awakening Blush – an ordinary looking pink blush which ain’t ordinary at all. Fact that the colour self-adjusts to suit various skin tones is pretty amazing, not to mention that the blush is softly scented – already a winner for me.
From the same collection, Dior also released 2 sets of 3 Couleurs Smoky and the one I have here is 461 Smoky Garden. Sadly, I never got around reviewing this product alone but I have done a look featuring it here if you are interested.
Swatches below taken indoor, under natural day light, without flash – on dry skin without primer.
I like that these three colours have a silky smooth texture, they are very nicely pigmented too and the glittery green shade on extreme right, is super pigmented. Despite the amount of glitter, it doesn’t feel gritty at all. I have no problems with fall-outs, creasing and fading throughout the day.
Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in 28 Teal Topaz (swatches and comparisons here) has amazing texture, consistency and colour payoff – my favourite teal nail colour at the moment because it’s neither too bright, too light nor too dark.
Another three nail colours that I am absolutely loving for Spring are from Chanel. The Chanel Le Vernis in 533 April, 535 May & 539 June (swatches and comparison here) are beyond gorgeous. The colours are so cheerful and beautiful so is the texture, consistency and finish. At a glance, they may look similar to some other colours but I can’t find anything close till today.
NARS Lhasa Shimmer Eyeshadow is the most gorgeous grey this Spring. I enjoy using it alone, all over my lids with a black eyeliner smudged along the lash line. This shade also makes great pairings with dusty pinks, purples or blues.
I know I have been raving a lot about the MAQuillAGE True Rouge in RD 712* (reviewed here) but I am really in love with it. Everything about it is love – ahem, except the price point.
The formula and texture are phenomenon as you all know I suffer from dry lips, finding a nice lipstick that doesn’t emphasize cracks and lines can be quite difficult especially on those really bad-lips-day (where lip balms refuse to work). And the shade, RD 712 is gorgeous, it goes with most eye looks I put on daily.
Whenever I need a “perk me up” scent, Gucci Floral Glamorous Magnolia EDT* is the one I go to. On first spritz, it’s fresh and sensual but it settles down to a powdery, warm scent that lingers throughout the day.
Lastly, I have the RMK Sprinkling Cheeks in 01 Pink for you. You can find the swatches here and me wearing it in this look. It is stunning – looks natural with a touch of it but the intensity can be layered on. I love that it comes with a matching highlighter – together, you can achieve perfectly glowing cheeks on-the-go (because it comes with a mirror and brush!).
What are your beauty picks for Spring 2012?
I agree with most of your picks especially Dior Healthy Glow and Chanel’s nail polish. I am such a spring person that I would hope that make up season would be only spring and fall 🙂 I have not trying Maquillage lipstick, but looking at your beautiful post makes me want to try it.
LOL Memoiselle..
Yes, you must try the MAQuillAGE True Rouges..
looks like the Dior 3 smoky eyeshadow palette does not disappoint this time round as compared to the previous ones..will be off to the counter to swatch! 😉
