Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer In C5 Molten Lava

Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in C5 Molten Lava was an unexpected find when I visited KL. I picked up a few other items from the same collection as well and this polish simply completed the deal.

I love Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquers – not all shades have the same opacity tho, it’s best to try them on your nails before deciding your purchase. A few of my favourite shades from the range are nonetheless Teal Topaz, Pure Red and possibly this one.

Am particularly excited about their upcoming new releases for Fall – Beyond Black & Metal Mania Nail Lacquer Collections.

Molten Lava is a deepen eggplant with a dusty grey tinge infused with copper tone micro-shimmers. In the dark, it seems like a purple-grey but during the day and in certain angles, it reflects the copper shimmers, making it seems like a purple-brown; which is rather interesting.

I don’t think my swatches do justice to this beautiful shade, I recommend checking out swatches and comparison on the following blogs – Kosmetista, A Terrible Beauty, Are You? and on Rina Tauri.

Like my other two favourites, texture and consistency of Molten Lava is nice and smooth, thick and opaque – 2 coats do the trick and depending on length of your nails and the amount of polish your apply, this shade could be a possible one-coater.

Below are some of the comparisons I draw from my current stash. Nothing came close tho, hope they help.

SET 1

  • Chanel Paradoxal
  • Chanel Strong
  • Estée Lauder Molten Lava
  • Dior Shadow
  • NARS Tokaido Express
  • Chanel Vendetta

SET 2

  • Illamasqua Baptiste
  • Rescue Beauty Lounge Catherine H
  • Estée Lauder Molten Lava
  • OPI Tease-y Does It
  • Spa Ritual Howl
  • OPI Russian Navy

From the comparisons above, the closest would be Chanel Strong (more red and darker) and Spa Ritual Howl (more brown and deeper). Both has less grey.

If you can get your hands on Molten Lava, get it, I think it’s a pretty unique shade with excellent quality. I believe this entire collection didn’t make it to Singapore so the nearest place to get them is from Malaysia and online – I am not sure which online retailer ships nail polishes, sorry about that.

Thank you for reading, have a wonderful day ahead.
