My 5 All Time Favourites For September 2012

Good evening everyone, another month of favourites are here and this month is finally over – for some reason, September seems so long and torturing for me, I can’t wait for Christmas to come by right now. Have you started making your Christmas wish list yet?

I have been enjoying the above products this month – coincidentally, they come in black, gold and silver packaging. Bright lips with flawless skin or shimmer wash lids with nude lips seem to be my favourite – oh, black liquid eyeliners and dark nails too but I have been rotating/testing out a few of them so I haven’t included them in this post.

Chanel Coco Noir Eau de Parfum is something out of the box for me. I bought it in 50ml which is a good size for me as this is not my everyday scent. As the name suggests, this is an after-dark scent for me – I would wear it for a dinner date, a night out or an evening event.

I wanted to explore the aesthetic dimension of fragrances and to trace back the oriental scent to its origins in Venice.

Jacques Polge
Creator of Coco Noir, Chanel Master Perfumer

Jacques Polge is also the creator for one of the 6 Fragrances I Love – Beige, an intense powdery floral of natural elegance and grace — eponymous for Mademoiselle Chanel’s favorite colour.

Chanel describes Coco Noir as magnetic and uncompromising, and that it reveals a black that is intimate, seductive and intensely brilliant. Coco Noir contains striking top notes of Grapefruit and Bergamot with Rose and Jasmine accords, while Indonesian Patchouli and Sandalwood notes add warmth.

I love highlighting pens, they are easy to use and ultra-portable – great for touch-ups on-the-go and fits into any purses. The legendary YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch is no doubt one of my favourite highlighting pens.

Its illuminating properties help to add radiance to my face, accentuate features as well as brighten up my undereye area. It doesn’t conceal very dark circles but it works amazingly well when applied to the hollows of my undereye area – it reflects light to make the hollow parts seem fuller.

Lancôme recently relaunched their series of single eyeshadows and it was love at first sight – I fell in love with their Ombre Hypnôse Erika F. Please note that the picture above is not the same colour – I couldn’t find a nice and clear picture of Erika F.

Erika F is a highly pigmented, shimmery metallic blacken green-bronze with silver accent – trust me, it’s a complex shade and it looks different in every angle. The texture is soft and smooth, it’s amazing. Use a fluffy brush for a sheer wash of colour across the lids or use a dense paddle brush to pick up more product for an intense smoky eye look.

This shade is versatile and unique in every way, every dimension and every aspect.

I finally tested out the YSL Glossy Stain and my favourite colour (so far) is No 11 Rouge Gouche – a glossy fresh rose-red. I have a separate post on them coming right up so I shall talk more about them there. Quick question, what is your favourite shade?

Last but not least, I have been enjoying Chanel Rouge Allure in Évanescente paired with Erika F lately. I love the formula of Rouge Allure – it’s creamy, smooth and moisturizing with good colour payoff too. Together with YSL Glossy Stain No 11 – these two lip products have been residing in my makeup bag comfortably.

Note that the shade featured above is not Évanescente – I have a few more Rouge Allure lipsticks to feature, stay tuned.

What are your favourites this month?

Thank you for reading and have a great week ahead. Happy October to all of you.

  1. I too was surprised at myself when I purchased Coco Noir. I usually don’t feel like myself in an Oriental fragrance but this one has rose and jasmine and grapefruit so that made it wearable for me. I also like the YSL Glossy Stain and it’s funny because I usually don’t like stains. This formulation is wonderful! I love #14. It’s the perfect color for me. You would be gorgeous in it! I recently bought #13 but don’t know if I’m going to keep it. It’s a little bright. Touche Eclat is wonderful and have been wearing that for years. Great for giving your face freshness in the afternoon.

    • Hi Mimi,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about Coco Noir, ahh.. I am not alone!!
I particularly love the powdery dry down, it’s beautiful and lasts so well on me..
I need to check out #14, well, since YSL is now readily available in SG, I need to check out all their shades!!
Have you tried their Touche Eclat foundation?

  2. Nice! I like picture you did! And yes….Chanel Noir smells heavenly. Have you tried Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation? It’s my favorite for this month!

      • I heard alot of raves about the primer but I have not tried it before. I don’t really use primer unless there’s special occasion. The only one I had is the Laneige Make Up Primer Sebum Control, which works very well for me and smells so so good. Am thinking of Burberry Fresh Glow actually. Any comments on that?

        • Hi Ahwish,
I am thinking of trying the new Laneige Water Supreme Primer Base SPF15 PA+ since I have ran out of my MUFE HD Primer..
          Hmm..
I like Burberry Fresh Glow for radiance around my cheeks but I don’t think it controls oil around my T-zone well..
          xx

  3. I just got the ysl glossy stain in no.15 rose vinyl. Love that its a natural but brightening colour for me.however its staying power is not that fantastic n have to keep reapplying so that it looks fresh…or perhaps i should have gotten a stronger colour or apply a few more coats in the morning…

    • Hi Sharon,
Aww, I need to check out their entire colour range!!
Seems like I have missed out a few very important colours..
      LOL..
I get what you mean, perhaps a heavier dose in the morning will help =)
      xx
