Estée Lauder Beyond Black Pure Color Nail Lacquer Collection – Bête Noire, Blue Blood & Viper

Hello everyone, Estée Lauder has released a range of new nail polishes this Fall and I am very excited about them. This entry features three Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer from the Beyond Black Collection.

Each bottle retails at S$26 for 9ml of product, made in France.

Both Beyond Black and Metal Mania collections were already out when I was in Taiwan so I managed to pick up a few. Some of the colours I wanted were sold out.

The collection, Beyond Black is defined by five deep, shades that saturate nails in rich and dramatic color, capturing the allure of the Parisian Femme Fatale.

Estée Lauder

Bête Noire* – a deep purple-blue with multi-coloured shimmer in chrome finish. I have problems capturing the actual shade of this beauty – the actual colour is much richer and is more purple as compared to the photos above. I believe most purple-blue hues usually translate differently on camera, I tried my best.

For more colour accurate swatches, please refer to Venus’ Vanity and Pictured Tinsel.

This shade is quite unique in terms of both texture and shade. Head over to Mostly Sunny for a comparison between China Glaze Let’s Groove and Guerlain Riviera.

Blue Blood – a deep, mysterious midnight blue with multi-coloured shimmer in glossy finish. I spotted specks of light blue and silver shimmer in this shade which reflects beautifully under day light.

This shade reminds me of YSL Moonlight Blue but more shimmery and a tad lightly. It also reminds me of YSL Black Lapis but the shimmer found in Blue Blood is lighter and brighter. In terms of formula, Blue Blood has a great consistency and applies well without putting in extra effort.

Viper – a deep phthalo green with pine-green and silver shimmer in glossy finish. Consistency of this shade is slightly thinner than the other two, it has some sort of gel-like texture.

I love this shade, in fact this is the first shade I picked up from the collection. I was looking for a deep forest green nail colour and bingo, I found it right at the counter. I would wear this shade for all occasions, I think it looks perfect when paired with neutral smoky eyes and nude peach lips, in jeans.

Overall, again, I am very impressed with the quality of these nail polishes. Out of the three, I find the consistency of Blood Blue the smoothest and I like Viper the most. I think Viper is a must-have for A/W this year – I am very much in love with this shade.

If you like something a little different and out of the box, Bête Noire would be a great choice.

All three nail polishes wore well on me and applies easily without streaking. But remember to wait until the first coat is semi-dry before applying the second to avoid “bald spots”, I am guilty of that as you can probably tell from the swatches. All three shades also have good colour payoff, opaque in 2 coats.

Which colour do you like more from this set?

Thank you for looking.

Swatches taken under natural day light without using flash. Swatches swatched with Nail Tek Foundation II, 2 coats of nail polish and Seche Vite Top Coat.

  1. Loving Bete Noir,I’ve been holding this bottle in my hands, so tempted to buy it! It actually looks more purple in the bottle, but it’s definitely bluer on the nails. Gorgeous polishes!
