I love facial cleansers and exfoliators so it’s not a difficult task for me to try new ones every few months. In fact, I will most likely try a brand’s or a range’s cleanser, exfoliator or mask prior to trying their serum and moisturizer. Maybe because I am constantly being too cautious and worried that my skin will break out due to the change of products. And if a simple cleanser breaks me out, I will not even go near rest of their products.

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective™ White Skin Brightening Exfoliator comes in a slim and long, white plastic tube with a flip-top cap. Each squeeze dispenses the desired amount – you only need very little for each use.

Similar to the Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective™ White Purifying Foaming Cleanser, this scrub has quite a noticeable scent – a blend of white birch and peony extract, which I am not a fan of but doesn’t bothers me much as it washes right off and the smell doesn’t linger.

This scrub has a consistency of an airy, thick white paste filled with micro-beads – gentle yet exfoliates efficiently.

Two main ingredients found in the Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective™ White Skin Brightening Exfoliator are White Birch and Peony Extract. White Birch helps to reduce photo-aging and restores hydration to skin and Peony Extract helps protect against free radical oxidative damage and helps to slow down the production of melanin.

First Impressions A little goes a long, long way – I squeezed way too much on my first use. I like that this scrub foams up and doesn’t leave an oily/film-like residue on my skin. Skin felt clean and fresh after exfoliating even without using a cleanser after. I also like the fact that I could feel the micro-beads working gently on my skin.

After 8 weeks After using this exfoliator for consecutive 8 weeks (twice a week), I didn’t experience any sensitivity nor did it irritate my skin.

Overview

I like the Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective™ White Skin Brightening Exfoliator as I think it does its job well. It’s gentle on the skin – you can use it daily as part of your night-time regimen if you have less sensitive skin. I also like that it doubles up at a foaming cleanser.

Some exfoliators leave a creamy film-like residue on my skin which I will use an additional foaming cleanser to cleanse my face after but there’s no need for this.

As to whether this scrub has helped slow down the production of melanin – I think one has to use it for a long, long time, together with their whitening products to see the results. Cleansers, scrubs and masks provide that little push but I think they don’t work as well as a serum or moisturizer.

I am also happy that this exfoliator doesn’t dry out my skin. My skin feels nice and supple after use.

If you are thinking of trying a new scrub and your current scrub is finishing, I would recommend this to you. A tube will last you for a long, long time as you really need just a tiny pea size for the entire face and neck. It’s a very convenient 2-in-1 product too, a scrub and a cleanser in one – great for traveling or if you are heading out to the gym.

But if you are very particular with smell, I would advice you to take a sniff before purchasing as I think the smell may be a little overwhelming for some of you.
