Clarins White Plus | HP Whitening Powder Foundation SPF 30 / PA+++

Being a fan of the Clarins White Plus | HP skincare range, I was naturally very excited when they launched their White Plus | HP Whitening Powder Foundation earlier this year.

For more information and product details, please refer to this entry.

Comes in 5 shades created for Asian women – 01 Linen, 02 Petal, 03 Natural, 04 Almond and 05 Honey. I was provided two shades to try, 03 Natural and 04 Almond – both shades blend into my skin pretty naturally and I am currently using 04 Almond.

Design, shape and size of the Clarins White Plus | HP Whitening Powder Foundation is the same as their Hydra-Luminous Flawless Powder Foundation (reviewed here). Unlike the latter, I much prefer this packaging as it comes with a pearlized white plastic cover, say goodbye to visible fingerprints and stretches.

This powder foundation is very mildly scented, unlike their White Plus | HP skincare range – great for those who dislike scented cosmetics. The texture is ultra-fine and silky smooth, it feels extremely lightweight on the skin.

For me, the coverage falls short in this powder foundation, it only provides a translucent to sheer coverage with a very natural finish. Because the pigments are so finely milled, I experienced no problems with application at all. I enjoy using this number for setting my foundation or touching up on-the-go.

I use a powder brush for a light dusting of powder over a heavier foundation and I use a sponge when using a lighter foundation. I hardly use it on its own – if you have good skin, you may enjoy using it alone.

For more coverage, you can even use this powder foundation wet. Damp sponge with water or mist, pick up powder foundation and roll onto skin. Even by using this method, this powder foundation still feels very lightweight on the skin with slightly more coverage.

By translucent to sheer coverage, I meant it helps take away some shine, gives me a more radiant complexion without much coverage. It evens up my skin tone very slightly and takes away some redness.

The Overview

I love the ultra-fine and weightless texture of the Clarins White Plus | HP Whitening Powder Foundation on my skin. It doesn’t look cakey nor oxidizes on me, even around the nose area – it’s great for touch-ups as it takes away mid-day shine and helps me regain a healthy, natural and radiant look.

To me, the only sad thing is really, the level of coverage. If only it provides more coverage, this would have been quite ideal for daily use on its own.

For the past couple of months up till today, I have been enjoying it as a setting powder and for touching up throughout the day over my usual foundations like – Clarins Extra-Firming and Lancôme Teint Miracle. This powder foundation blends very well into the skin which is a plus for me.

I find the formula to be suitable for most skin types – I didn’t have any problems when my skin is dehydrated but I must say it’s not entirely long-lasting nor excellent in oil control either.

I would recommend this product to

If you have good skin with little concerns – looking for something that allows your natural, healthy skin to peek through, this may be what you are looking for. Or if you are generally looking for a powder that has skincare benefits for touch-ups, this is a good option too.

But if you are looking for a powder foundation that has higher coverage, this may disappoint you.

Looking a little spotty recently, the picture above shows how Clarins White Plus | HP Whitening Powder Foundation looks over Clarins Skin Illusion Foundation end of the day. I like the fact that I still look rather “bright” some what.

Have you tried this powder foundation? What are your thoughts?

  1. Just wondering how does this Clarins Whitening Powder compares to Lancome Teint Miracle Compact Powder?
Thanks, I am looking for one, since the Chanel whitening compact does not live up to my expectation.
    xx
