Lunasol Sheer Glossy Eyes In EX 01 Nuance Gray & EX 04 Peach Beige

My sincere apologies for taking so long to review these Lunasol Sheer Glossy Eyes. Released for Fall, I believe they are limited edition items and I am not sure if they are still available. I picked up EX 01 Nuance Gray & EX 04 Peach Beige and would like to share my thoughts about them with you.

Each of them contains 3.6g of product, made in Japan.

PACKAGING & SHADES

Packaged in clear plastic pots with Lunasol’s signature polished bronzed lids, they are light and portable. The clear base allows me to see which shade it is, very handy for those who picked up all four shades.

  • EX 01 Nuance Gray is a sparkling taupe-ish gray with multi-coloured micro-shimmers.
  • EX 04 Peach Beige is an orangey peach with multi-toned micro-shimmers.

Both shades are incredibly wearable, beautiful and sparkly (under the sun light). And I think these two shades will look great paired together.

Swatches below taken under natural day light, without flash.

FORMULA & APPLICATION

Something new to the brand I believe – the texture is very smooth and creamy, nothing like traditional eyeshadows, they are not powdery at all. But they are not cream eyeshadows to be exact. When I press my finger down, it’s slightly bouncy, much like a cushion.

The closest product I can relate to is Chanel Illusion D’Ombre (reviewed here) but the Illusion D’Ombres are softer.

I find using fingers the easiest to apply. I usually use my ring finger to pick up product and pat onto my lids. These Sheer Glossy Eyes offer a sheer but buildable colour. When worn lightly, it creates a sheer wash of iridescent colour across the lids, very alluring.

Depending on your preference, you can always use a cream colour base or dark colour eyeshadow to apt up the shades. These can also be worn over powder eyeshadows for that extra dimension.

OVERVIEW

Beautiful and I appreciate how simple yet delicate they look on the lids. I love the sparkles – extremely wearable and understated. However, I experienced light creasing after 4 hours – without a base. I will always wear a base under them.

Like but not love due to the creasing.

I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO

If you find Chanel Illusion D’Ombre difficult to manage – in terms of application, these Lunasol Sheer Glossy Eyes are great alternatives but they are not as metallic in finish as the Chanel’s.

Or if you are looking into adding some sparkles on your lids, without looking too over the top during the day, these are great too.

Thank you for reading.

  1. I ordered Nuance Gray and can confirm that the product tends to crease even with a base which rarely happens for me. The color itself and application is rather lovely,

  2. Hi Joey,

Which one do you prefer – the Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye or Lunasol’s?

By the way, how are you going with the RMK Base products? Still liking them?

How does RMK Liquid Foundation compared to Chanel Perfection Lumiere?

Love your look in Violet Underground.

    Thanks

    Jessica

    • Hi Jessica,
I prefer Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color because I find them easier to use and they lasts all day & night without smudging, fading nor creasing on me..
Yes, I am still enjoying the RMK base products =)
The RMK Liquid Foundation is more watery compared to Chanel Perfection Lumiere and I think it’s more suitable for dry skin (Chanel PL seems to emphasize dry, flaky skin if not well moisturized)..
Both have a different finish tho, RMK’s natural/luminous depending on base and Chanel’s matte/skin-like..
In terms of oil control, both are almost the same but I think Chanel’s excel a little better =)
In terms of coverage, both are similar in a way – medium but buildable!!
      Both blends easily too!!
      Hope I helped =)
      Happy weekend xx

      • Hi Joey,

Many thanks for the great effort in explaining the products used in “Your Look” and also the associated techniques. I have learnt so much from you!

Have a great Holiday Season and Happy New Year 2013!

        Cheers

        Jessica
