Guerlain Vernis À Ongles In 03 Altoum & 04 Lou-Ling

Guerlain Vernis À Ongles In 03 Altoum & 04 Lou-Ling - 1

Hello everyone, today I have two nail polishes from Guerlain’s Holiday collection for you. I bought them from the airport and I can’t remember how much they cost.

Each bottle holds 11.5ml of product, made in France.

These are my first two nail polishes from Guerlain. From my shopping post, I mentioned I didn’t regret getting them but they are some what disappointing. When I swatched them over at the counter, they seemed to be perfect – nice consistency and opaque.

These nail polishes feature a wooden cap with a short, slim brush applicator – shorter than Chanel’s but almost the same width. I must say the packaging is simple yet beautiful – very minimum with no brand name printed, instead, they have their logo carved on top of the bottle.

03 Altoum is a pale jewel tone gold.

04 Lou-Ling is a burgundy wine with barely visible micro-shimmers.

Back to why I find them disappointing despite many good reviews online. As I paint, the formula thickens and gets gloppy – it’s way too thick for me to handle. Note, I apply both of them in a non air-conditioned room and without a fan. I have tried applying on several occasions and the results are the same.

And due to the thickness, it took a long time to dry.

Between the two, Altoum is the better one but such jewel tone shade enhances my nail imperfection – like uneven surface despite using my trusty base coat. If not careful, streak marks will occur. Lou-Ling is a lovely shade but not unique – I can probably find a similar shade in my stash with better quality.

I am not sure if it’s me but I am not completely satisfied with them at all. If you have them, please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you for looking.

Swatches taken under natural day light without flash. Swatches swatched with Nail Tek Foundation II, 2 coats of nail polish and Deborah Lippmann Hard Rock Hydrating Hardener.
