Hello everyone, I have the Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in 09 Plum Noir for you today. This is my first Tom Ford nail polish and I am very excited about it, shall share more thoughts in the next few paragraphs.
Each bottle retails at S$45 for 12ml of product, made in France.
Tom Ford Nail Lacquers come in very sleek and elegant square glass bottles with a removable copper colour cap; with “TF” initials on top. The brush applicator is long and narrow, similar to Chanel’s but slightly shorter. The brush fans out relatively easily so application along the cuticles weren’t a problem for me.
But the handle is ever-so-slightly longer so it took a little more control for precise application.
09 Plum Noir is a rich, reddened plum with cream finish. Very elegant and sophisticated.
Texture is nice and smooth. I would say the consistency is somewhere between YSL and Chanel; not as watery as YSL but not as thick as Chanel. Pigmentation is moderate.
Colour is true to bottle only after three coats and I experienced mild patchiness for the 1st and 2nd coats. The 3rd coat pretty much help iron things out and am glad it didn’t look too thick. Drying time is quite fast because I applied thin coats.
Below, I have a comparison of Tom Ford Plum Noir with Chanel Provocation – when I was doing a mental comparison, I thought they look quite close but Provocation is deeper and has a dusty sheen whereas Plum Noir is visibly brighter and has more red.
Which shade do you like more?
Personally, I prefer Plum Noir just because it’s brighter and flatters my complexion more.
Overall, like but definitely not love.
With a price tag of S$45, I expect it to be more opaque with zero patchiness – painting my nails thrice just doesn’t make the cut as a luxury product. Basically, I wouldn’t run out just to grab another bottle. I love this shade very much and am wondering if I have something close in my stash.
I have seen better reviews on Tom Ford’s newer nail polish releases, hopefully (if ever) they will make their way to Singapore soon.
Have you tried Tom Ford nail polishes before?
Thank you for looking.
