Hello everyone, this entry features Urban Decay’s latest NAKED palette – the NAKED Basics. I have included swatches and thoughts in this post.
—————————————-
Urban Decay’s first MATTE palette, featuring six gorgeously NAKED neutrals to build on or wear alone – including four never-before-seen shades.
NAKED Basics is more than just the long-awaited, multipurpose MATTE companion to NAKED. It’s the palette EVERY woman needs in her beauty arsenal. With six stripped-down, nakedly neutral shadows, it has everything you need for the perfect neutral matte eye – including four totally new and exclusive shades.

Retails at S$45 for 6 x 1.3g of product, made in USA.
This palette is readily available at Sephora stores now but there will be some special promotions tomorrow – click here to find out more. Catch Sophia, Mag and myself at Sephora ION tomorrow, at 4pm – we will be doing a live demonstration on how to use this palette to create different looks from day to night.
This NAKED Basics palette is smaller than an iPhone. It’s super cute and I think the size makes it so portable, handy and travel-friendly. It fits into my little NARS makeup pouch too.
The palette is made out of a rubbery plastic which provides proper grip with the words “Urban Decay NAKED Basics” embossed onto the cover.
This little palette contains six shades and they are;-
- Venus – soft, off-white demi-matte
- Foxy – cream bisque matte
- W.O.S – stands for Walk Of Shame; very light nude matte
- Naked 2 – taupe matte
- Faint – warm, dusty brown matte
- Crave – deepest, darkest brown/black matte
All six shades are very nicely pigmented. They are rich, smooth and silky. The colours have a very lightweight feel – they are neither chalky nor powdery and I experienced very little fall outs with the lighter skin tone shades. A little fall out with the black but nothing overly messy.
Two close-ups for you below.
All product shots, including swatches below – taken under natural day light without flash. Swacthes swatched without primer, on dry arm.
Despite the size of this palette, it features full-size shadow pans just like the other NAKED palettes. Every shade features Urban Decay’s Pigment Infusion System™, a vehicle for colour that holds tightly to pigment and gives the formula its glide.
Overall, a very well-edited neutral, basic palette with high quality eyeshadows. The eyeshadows are velvety smooth, silky and blends exceptionally well.
I personally appreciate having both Venus and Crave very much because they simply spice things up. Venus is great for highlighting – inner corners of the eyes, lower lash line and under the brows. Crave wraps things up by adding definition to outer corners of the eyes, along the upper lash line or smoking the lids out.
This palette indeed contains an array of NAKED Basics but created thoughtfully with lots of love.
Thank you for looking.
Can you create a FOTD with this?
Hi Chris,
Yes, I will =)
the more i see this, the more i want it! lol. but i have both naked palettes and an obsession with burberry shadows, so I’m not sure if i need this! thoughts?
Hi Joyce,
This palette is very different from the previous NAKEDs – the texture and finish..
A very good basic to have if you wear neutrals everyday..
Burberry eyeshadows are love too, depends if you need a handy all-in-one palette or singles (unless you are talking about the new Burberry quads)..
Hope my thoughts helped =)
thanks for the input! It does help some! 🙂
LOL..
No problem dear, let me know what’s your decision!!
