YSL Boréal Palette Polar Light Face Highlighter

YSL Boréal Palette Polar Light Face Highlighter - Pearly Finish (1)

Hello everyone, today I have the YSL Boréal Palette Polar Light Face Highlighter up for some quick thoughts. This was released as part of their Holiday 2012 collection, together with the breathtaking Boréal Palette Artic Night 4 Wet & Dry Eyeshadows (reviewed here).

YSL Boréal Palette Polar Light Face Highlighter retails at S$70 for 8.5g of product, made in France.

YSL always creates stunning looking highlighters and bronzers – although I haven’t had the opportunity to try any of their bronzers, I enjoy reading about them on other beauty blogs. Each piece looks so carefully constructed and delicate with their signature “YSL” logo imprinted on the pan.

The last highlighter I picked up from YSL was their Palette Blanc Terriblement Face Highlighter.

YSL Boréal Palette Polar Light Face Highlighter consists of multi-colour micro-shimmers embedded into the silky, snowy white pigment. I like how smooth and finely milled the powder is. The pigments and shimmers are pressed tightly together, making applicator even.

This highlighter creates a soft focus effect on the skin. It’s subtle and delicate – I even tried applying a very light layer over my entire face, it seems to add instant radiance to my complexion.

I believe this highlighter is meant to be used lightly because anything heavier will create a white, chalky cast on the skin. And with that being said, I am not sure if it will suit those who are slightly deeper in skin tone. Best to try it over at the counter before purchasing.

Overall, I like the soft focus effect on my skin but there’s nothing fascinating about this highlighter – it’s not something I would run out and grab.

I would appreciate it more if the texture is slightly more creamy. Right now, the formula seems a little “drying” and powdery. On certain parts of my face (if I use it as an all over powder), it enhances the dryness and texture of my skin – especially on flaky skin.

I find the best areas to apply this YSL Boréal Palette Polar Light Face Highlighter is on the nose bridge and cupids bow because it brings light to naturally enhance features without being too obvious.

Thank you for looking.
