For Holiday last year, YSL released a soft, shimmery baby pink blush to complement their sultry and mysterious Boréal Palette Artic Night eyeshadow palette.
YSL Blush Radiance in N°8 retails at S$70 for 4g of product, made in France.
I remember drafting this post beginning of the year but somehow, I got carried away and have forgotten all about it. It’s a little late to review products from last year but instead of trashing this piece of work, I have finally completed it and I shall share my thoughts about this blush with you.
Like YSL Blush Radiance in N°6 (previously reviewed here), this piece is presented in the signature YSL gold casing – classy but prone to fingerprints and tarnishes relatively quickly. Unlike the eyeshadow palette and highlighter from this collection, this blush comes with a velvet pouch, together with a very soft brush.
It’s eye candy seeing YSL took a shimmering spin to the blush from their usual half-matte, half satin range. And the shimmers glisten so beautifully under the light.
YSL Blush Radiance in N°8 is a soft, candy pink with silver and golden shimmers. A very brightening and fresh shade.
However, I find the shade of this blush a tad too light for my skin tone. And a little shimmery to be worn on its own. I prefer layering this shade over a darker pink – the glistening shimmers act as a highlighter. Together with a dark pink blush as a base, this YSL Blush Radiance in N°8 looks gorgeous.
Despite this blush being infused with shimmering glitters, texture of it is not gritty – it still bears that smoothness and lightness.
Colour payoff of this shade is considered decent for such a light shade. I tried wearing it on its own during testing, two layers offer the best intensity for my skin tone – 1 layer is too natural with little colour. If you are fairer than I am, I suspect this shade will give you a very natural healthy glow.
Swatches above taken under natural day light, with no flash.
Overall, like but not love – mainly because I find the shade a little too light and shimmery for my liking. But I like layering it on top of other blushes for that extra glow. It doesn’t emphasize imperfections which is a huge plus for me and the shimmers are very flattering against night-light.
Thank you for looking.
I like this blush also, and agree that it’s a bit light and glittery so I also wear it over another blush and it gives a gorgeous finish unlike wearing another blush alone.
Hi Mimi,
Totally agree.. two is always better than one!!
This looks like a lovely blush. However, the shimmer is a bit too much for my taste.
Hi Angela,
Correct, I reckon the glitters ain’t everyone’s taste =)
Let’s look forward to more new blushes from them!!
xx
♥ it!!
Hi Gauri,
Glad you do =)
Do you wear it on its own or you layer it on top of another blush?
xx
I saw this at the DFS and gave it the skip because it was way too light for my skin tone but I can definitely see you rocking the glowy look Joey. Don’t you find YSL blushes a tad too tiny though?
Hi dear,
Yes, it’ll be too light.. I think people with NC10-15 skin tones will rock this shade!!
And yes, they are tiny!! I find them quite cute tho..
Thanks for your compliments =)
