Good day everyone, I have been trying the NEW Kiehl’s Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream with Vitamin C SPF 50 PA+++ for a couple of weeks and I am here today, to share my thoughts.
For more information about this product, please refer to this post.
This NEW BB Cream is already available island-wide – comes in three shades. And each retails at S$68 for 30ml of product, made in USA.
This BB Cream is packaged in a similar white plastic tube with a flip top cap as their Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++.
It’s light yet sturdy. I find the packaging very travel friendly as the flip top cap snaps tightly into place – and its streamline design slips into any pocket of spaces, very handy especially when you are running out of space in your traveling makeup pouch.
SHADE, TEXTURE & FORMULA
The shade I have here is Light. There are three shades available, Fair is slightly lighter and Natural is slightly darker. Light works perfectly for me and blends into my skin tone naturally.
Texture of this BB Cream is creamy and dense. It’s smooth but doesn’t blend as effortlessly as The Body Shop Moisture White™ Shiso BB Serum Inside. If I compare it with the brand’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA+++, this BB Cream is definitely thicker in consistency.
This formula takes a bit of blending and spreading. I find using fingers the best and quickest way to apply.
Because this BB Cream doesn’t dry-down so quickly, there’s plenty of time for application. With that said, there’s actually no specific ways I apply it but I find myself applying the BB Cream on sides of my face first and blending it inwards – opposite from how I would normally apply my foundations.
For those with combination/dry or dry skin, make sure your skin is properly moisturized before applying this BB Cream. I find it enhances dry patches around the sides of my face. With a well moisturized face, the BB Cream spreads on a lot better, more evenly and it takes less time to apply.
This BB Cream has a very natural, skin-like finish which doesn’t require much powdering if that’s the sort of “look” you are going for. I usually dust a very light layer of powder over my T-zone.
COVERAGE & LONGEVITY
Unlike most BB Creams I have tried, this number provides very little coverage. If you are hoping for something that will help conceal spots, pigmentations and/or scars, I am afraid this is not for you. This BB Cream is also not a replacement for foundation (for me).
However, I like to use it as a “tinted sunscreen” over the weekends. For meetings, dinner dates and attending events, I still prefer a more sophisticated finish as compared to this. Despite the coverage being sheer, I think it does quite a good job at correcting my skin tone. My skin actually looks more fresh and smooth with this BB Cream on.
I find its oil control quite decent and the product stays on relatively well throughout the day.
In the pictures above;-
- I had this BB Cream on, with no concealer – set with loose powder. You can see that the finish is very natural. This BB Cream evened out my skin tone a little and gave it a radiant glow. Coverage is so-so as imperfections are still peeking through on some areas.
- I had this BB Cream on, with no concealer – set with pressed powder. Very minimum makeup that day and I was out all day, this photo was taken towards end of the day and I am quite impressed with the oil control and longevity of this combination. Complexion seems quite even and smooth with less visible pores.
I like the NEW Kiehl’s Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream with Vitamin C SPF 50 PA+++ as a “tinted sunscreen” over the weekends or if I go on a beach vacation and need to look fresh.
I appreciate the broad spectrum SPF 50 PA+++ very high protection this product offers against UV rays.
This product is lightweight and provides comfortable wear throughout the day. Although it didn’t blend perfectly onto dry skin, it didn’t make my skin dry – my skin feels well hydrated at end of the day, even after removing my makeup. It doesn’t oxidize either.
I can see how this product will benefit those who wears very minimum makeup from a day-to-day basis. And with that being said, I think this product will work wonders on men who needs protection and a bit of coverage but nothing over the top or too obvious – literally “my skin but better”.
Thank you for reading.
