Our Short Break To Taipei

Hello everyone!! Have been a long time since we spoke, I hope the haze ain’t affecting you too much – it’s quite sad waking up to such foggy situation. My nose is blocked and my head is spinning, am definitely staying home – switching on the air-con and lighting up a candle. As I am putting this post together, the PSI level has gone up to 170.

During the short break I mentioned end of last month, Mak and I went Taipei for 8 days. We have not planned anything for our honeymoon yet but we both knew, we needed a short getaway.

During this trip, we enjoyed lots of good food at some places we have never visited before. After all the hard work for the wedding, I think I can afford to give myself a break to enjoy some good food huh?

We tried some traditional Taiwanese delicacies at a hotel – not too bad. And we had tim sum for brunch the next day. This is my first time having tim sum in Taiwan, quite impressed with the selection and taste – the egg tarts are so delicious.

Highlight of our trip was visiting Hiyen-Shabu, they had a wide variety of fresh seafood, vegetables and meat. They also have over 6 to 8 different selection of soup base – which comes in individual pots, I love having individual pots because I can cook whatever I want.

Freshness of the seafood is immaculate – may sound kinda gross but the fish’s tail was still wiggling when served.

Shall finish this post off with one of my favourite places in Taipei – Jiufen. Walking through the old streets, enjoying little snacks and having a cup of coffee up the mountain is pure relaxation to me.

My mother-in-law joined us for a couple of days as well, it was great hanging out with her.

Weather was relatively warm during our visit and we experienced a deadly 6.3 magnitude earthquake on our 3rd day. I was in the bathroom – can you imagine? I thought I was fainting due to the heat and when I got out, the chandelier was shaking left and right.

At that very second, I didn’t know what to do – run and hide under the dining table? Or run 10 floors down?

Happy mid-week everyone. I am still on my little break so posts will most likely be infrequent especially in July (I will be away most of the month). I have selected and emailed all winners for the giveaway – thank you so much for your support and congratulations to all 10 who have won. I will be shipping the prizes out tomorrow.

Thank you for reading.
