A very long post ahead with lots of photos – all about the food we had during our stay at W Maldives.

We brought along some cup noodles and snacks but never had the chance to finish them because at W Maldives, we are spoilt for choices. From sandwiches, pasta, seafood to BBQ in our very own retreat. Here’s a complete look at what we had at the varies restaurants – mainly pictures.

IN RETREAT BBQ

One of the main highlights of our trip is having BBQ lunch in our very own retreat. There are several menu options to choose from – from Maldivian, Asian, Spanish to American, each has their own flavours and specialties. We chose the American Style menu.

All we had to do is – let any W Talents know what time we would like to have our lunch and the choice of menu we prefer. They are very on time with the arrangements – someone will bring all the food and help set up the tables and chairs – and teach us how to operate the BBQ pit.

From there, we start cooking the food however we like.

The food is very delicious, not to mention having such a fantastic view right in front of us. While Mak was busy cooking rest of the food, I had time to set up the tripod and play with the camera – it was indeed an awesome lunch, very full and satisfied.

FIRE

FIRE – buffet on the beach (literally) offers a range of fresh meats and seafoods cooked to suit our taste-buds. There is also a plethora of sides to compliment our meal. We had lots of lobsters and prawns, oh my – so fresh and flavourful – I miss everything about FIRE.

Operates only on certain days, be sure you mark the day down when you are at W Maldives – that is if you like seafood!

Must try their lobsters and prawn tempura – highly recommend, they taste heavenly.

Setting of FIRE is very cosy and intimate. This is the first time I ever dine on a beach – go bare foot and enjoy the soft sand. Truly a candle light dinner – after dinner, take a scroll along the beach and laze on the bean bags to stargaze – also take joy in having small conversations with your other half.

The ambient is beyond perfect – feels as if time has stopped.

KITCHEN

Meet Chetan in the photo above – he’s awesome, the restaurant manager of Kitchen. From India but speaks fluent Mandarin, puts Mak and I to shame.

During your stay, you would most likely be spending most of your mornings at Kitchen because this is the place for breakfast which starts from 6:30am and ends at 10:30am. Kitchen is comfy and cozy, offering both indoors and outdoors seating.

Their international semi-buffet style breakfast is good enough for me – very tasty sausages, hash browns and bread is all I need for the morning.

And a cup of hot coffee? And fresh papaya fruit juice with soya milk?

If you think seating outdoors is not adventurous enough, opt for a spot in the water – again, a very refreshing idea. No worries, no fishes in the water.

On the day we are leaving, there’s DJ spinning and some cocktail making by the deck – can never start too early huh? If only we didn’t have to go – I will probably have a sip.

During our stay, we tried seating indoors, outdoors and having our feet soaked in water during breakfast – I prefer seating outdoors by the water, the view is fantastic.

We visited Kitchen once for dinner, very impressed with their Whatever/Whenever® menu – basically we choose the type of pasta, sauce and ingredients we want and the chef does the rest. Mak ordered spaghetti with prawns, mushrooms and capsicum in carbonara sauce – love.

FISH

Open only at night, FISH is set over the water and under the stars.

Enjoy seafood dishes with Asian tendencies, the unexpected pairing of flavours will surely surprise your palate. We visited FISH on our last night at W Maldives – they were having a special lobster menu but no, we wanted lobster pasta and so, we got it.

Must try their mash potato, looks and feels so smooth and creamy – and tastes like soup (the great way of course). If you fancy some pre/post dinner drinks, this is also an excellent spot.
