Hello everyone, have been quite a long time since I did a look – guess what? We all missed Femme Boulevard‘s collaboration in July due to our busy schedules. Nonetheless, we are back for two editions this month – and today’s look features Smokey Eyes For The Day.
There are many ways to smoke up an eye look but for the day, I would avoid using any black or dark colours so to speak. Blues and greens are also workable for daytime smokey eyes depending on how you apply and which shades of blue or green you go for.
Instead of a pair of brown smokey eyes (my usual), I went for a peach/mauve and plum colour scheme which I think is feminine as well as work friendly.
Face
Noticed I got a little more tan? Thanks to the Maldivian sun – I am actually liking it, I think it makes me look healthier but I have very limited choices of foundation to use now. I purchased two new foundations to try and here’s using Astalift Light Analyzing Moisture Foundation together with Astalift Light Analyzing Pressed Powder to set.
First impression: The coverage is somewhat medium to full – all I need is a pump for the entire face but I find this foundation a little difficult to blend, it leans towards the dry side if you know what I mean. It doesn’t work very well at concealing pores either. However, it’s fantastic for photography and evening out skin tone. Let me know if you would like a review of this foundation.
Eyes
All about the eyes and I am trying out the new Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes in D01 – it’s very pigmented and the textures are soft and creamy. This palette works very well for creating smokey eye looks.
I have numbered the colours and swatches in the pictures below, please refer to them as I bring you through the steps.
- Apply (2) over brow bones.
- Apply (1) over lids up to crease and blend with (2).
- Apply (4) over lids where double eye lid line is – and apply the same shade along outer 2/3 of lower lash line.
- Tight line upper lash line with a black eyeliner.
- Line outer 2/3 of upper lids with a creamy black eyeliner.
- Use (5) to smudge and softer edges of black eyeliner.
- Apply mascara and false eyelashes if needed.
- Apply (3) to inner corners of eyes.
Cheeks
I started sculpting my cheek bones with NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna (found in my NARS The Happening Eye & Cheek Palette) and brushed a little left over onto the temples – nothing over the top for day. I went for a coral/pink blush using Diorblush in 856 Rose Diorette – very pigmented and smooth.
Lips
My favourite nude/brown (but appears pink nude on my lips) Lancôme Rouge In Love in 272N.

I love how soft this look is 🙂 And your tan DOES make you all sorts of glowy. I also notice your hair is now much longer. This colour scheme is definitely feminine

Have a lovely day ahead =)
Joey, if you don’t mind and when you get the chance, please do review the astalift foundation. been using its skincare line and very interested in the makeup. and i have been reading the claims from the company but i can’t seem to find a legit review from real users. when you said “it’s fantastic for photography and evening out skin tone” it really makes me wonder what makes it so. given that you’ve got experience with other brands especially the high end ones, i will be grateful to hear your opinion on this. thank you in advance.
Hi Jess,
Your request is top on my list, will try to find time for a review =)
Happy weekend xx
