A very simple and subtle look featuring the beautiful Illamasqua Complement Palette today.
This palette consists of a shimmery brown cream eyeshadow, a neutral frosty cream, a matte auburn and a glittery eggplant purple. The colours may seem a little daring but works together beautifully for a pair of soft smoky eyes suitable for all occasions.
Hope you like this look and happy Friday.
Face
Another set of look using the new Astalift Light Analyzing Moisture Foundation and Light Analyzing Pressed Powder I recently purchased — I didn’t use any base in the look so what you see is what you get. The finishing is really quite beautiful I must say. But on its own, it doesn’t help smooth out pores.
Have you tried this foundation before? What are your thoughts?
Eyes
Very simple steps, refer to numbering and swatches below.
- Apply a thin layer of (2) over lids as a base.
- Gently pat (3) over (2), stop below crease and blend edges to soften.
- Tight line upper lash line with a black eyeliner.
- Line upper lids with a black eyeliner — as thinly as possible (or as thick, if you want more drama).
- Use (4) to smudge black eyeliner.
- Apply (3) along outer corners of lower lash line and apply (4) over for more intensity.
- Apply (1) on brow bones and inner corners of lower lash line.
- Apply mascara and false eyelashes if needed.
Cheeks
I went for a very natural and neutral colour scheme on the cheeks — rather sculpted with very little hue.
First, use Diorskin Nude Tan Healthy Glow Enhancing Powder in 003 Zenith to sculpt cheek bones then apply Illamasqua Powder Blush in Beg onto the high points of the cheeks — this method will help elevate and create higher looking cheek bones, provides a “lifting” effect too.
Lips
Many lip colours can complement this look, I went for a warmer, neutral tone using Lunasol Full Glamour Liquid Lips in EX 01 Clear Beige. For those who are more daring, try deep plum or chocolate-brown for a completely different vibe.
Thank you for looking.

Very beautiful and I love how your hair is now 🙂 One day, you must do a post on step-by-step application of eye makeup as you really do it so well.
Hello Victoria,
Thank you so much for your kind compliments =)
I permed my hair two days ago and I can’t wait to do a look with my new hairstyle!!
Sure, I will try to, capturing step-by-step application of eye makeup is so much more difficult than I imagined =(
TGIF hun xx
Hey Joey can you suggest some dupe for Beg??
Hello Gauri,
Illamasqua Beg remains fairly unique in my stash;-
– MAC Darkly My Dear has more brown (I believe this is a limited edition shade)
– NARS Amour has more pink/orange
– NARS Dolce Vita has more brown and shimmer
I couldn’t find anything close to Beg in my collection, sorry!!
Oh my Joey, you look really fabulous. That eye palette complements your eyes very well.
Thank you so much hun =)
Happy weekend xx
This looks great on you! Simple, neutral and yet so polished. Scrolling down and seeing your avatar, it’s also quite amazing that your hair has grown so much since!
Hello Sara,
Thank you so much =)
Yes, I looked back at my Looks and noticed the same thing!!
Have a great week ahead xx
Hi Joey, what shade are you using in Astalift liquid foundation? Thanks! =)
Hi Kate,
I am so sorry, I don’t have it with me now and I can’t remember.
Will update my foundation list as soon as I can =)
Happy Saturday xx
