Quick Look At Some Make Up Store Offerings

Make Up Store Makeup (1)

Hello everyone, on this lovely Saturday morning, I would like to share this “catch up post” with you — it’s not a shopping post, filing it under this category because I haven’t decided which category it should go under (have never done this sort of “quick look” post before).

I am sure all of you are not a stranger to the brand, Make Up Store. This Sweden brand founded by Mika Liias has been in Singapore for years and each season, the brand launches 3 looks featuring both existing and new colours/products.

In this post, I have a mixture of products from their past and upcoming launches for you — together with product information and some quick thoughts (if any).

NAIL ART DECO IN BLACK (S$19)

First seen in their Summer 2013 collection, these pearls (also known as nail caviar) are available in four shades — I believe a few more new shades will be added.

Packaged in a small, clear plastic bottle with a rubber nozzle, I can easily dispense the pearls onto my nails. But having said that, I don’t seem to have much luck with such nail art despite trying several times.

I tried on a matching black base and on a totally contrasting red base — the outcome? I think I prefer sticking to a matching base.

ITEMS FROM NOMAD & BLOSSOM SUMMER 2013 COLLECTIONS

NOMAD // The inspiration is drawn from the native habitants that have gone urban and vice versa. This soft yet striking trend is a poetic crossover of ethnic street art meets sandy steppe. Nomad is the low-key look of the season but certainly no less beautiful than the others.

BLOSSOM // The collection is like the most beautiful and intoxicating flowers. The look however is a play on darkness and light; who said romance has to be boring? Blossom is all one would want to be this summer: Sensual but strong and powerful.

MICROSHADOW IN CASHEWNUT, TERRACOTTA & MOUNTAIN (S$27)

“Microshadow is a highly pigmented eyeshadow of utmost quality that delivers an intense and clear colour that last throughout the day and all night long.”

I fancy the brand’s newly revamped eyeshadow packaging — now, I can see right through the transparent lid and am able to pick just the correct colour I want without having to open up each and every eyeshadow.

Their formulas seem to have improved together with their packaging. Texture seems softer and creamier, less powdery.

These three colours swatched above works beautifully together for an eye look — a deep sultry one with a peek of orange. No doubt, my favourite amongst them is Terracotta, I have a thing for orange eyeshadow hues.

LIPS

Three lip products to play with namely (from the left) Gloss Lips in Love, Lipgloss Wand in Sunflower and Chubby Lipstick in Sienna.

TINTED DAY CRÈME

This Tinted Day Crème will join the brand’s existing family of base products this Fall.

Tinted Day Crème is the perfect tinted skincare product, the tint is homogeneous but always natural. Leaves your skin moisturized and it contains UVA and UVB protection. The soft evanescent texture allows a real comfort.

This product features Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate: UVB sunfilter, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate: UVA sunfilter and Fucogel 1000 PP which leaves an exceptional silky after-feel and provides the skin with a 2-in-1 moisturizing effect.”

MARBLE EYESHADOW IN GIALLO DAMASCO, AMARILLO & MICROSHADOW IN DESIGN (S$27)

Make Up Store’s Giallo Damasco Marble Eyeshadow will make its debut in their Jelly Collection this Fall (my guess is it’s already available). Amarillo Marble Eyeshadow will be released in their upcoming Punk Collection from 1 September and Design Microshadow will be available from 1 October for their Cashmere Collection.

Texture of these Marble Eyeshadows are creamy to touch with a soft metallic sheen.

MICROSHADOW IN CINNAMON BREAD & PEARL MYSTIC (S$27)

I have done a look featuring these shades before — click here if you have missed it. I was going through my folders and found this set of photos — and since I am planning to come up with a quick post showing Make Up Store’s products, I thought I would include them as well.

Love Cinnamon Bread, this shade works very beautifully on its own and lined with the brand’s Eye Pencil in Chocolate Cheesecake.

AQUA COOLING POWDER

Lastly, a quick look at the brand’s Aqua Cooling Powder.

“Apply Aqua Cooling Powder over your day crème to give your skin an instantaneous, cool and extra moisturized feel. This concentrated glacier water contains minerals.”

This translucent powder definitely has a “wet-feel” to it and a burst of cooling effect upon contact with the skin. It reminds me of Prescriptives Liquid Powder I used to use during high school and MAC Magically Cool Liquid Powder (well, sort of).

Not entirely sure if I will be reviewing any of these products in detail — let me know if you spot any products you would like me to do so. I will most likely review the Tinted Day Crème and Aqua Cooling Powder and probably include some of the eyeshadows and lip products in future looks.

I hope this post has been helpful — I do apologize for the lack of proper reviews lately. I am still in the midst of sorting out some personal matters which requires a lot of traveling.

Thank you for looking.
