New for Fall 2013, this Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in BR 214 Into The Woods retails at S$51 for 3g of product, made in Japan.
This is a pretty powerful palette for neutral lovers as it bears a “same same but different” variation. Featured previously in my August 2013 Favourites, this trio contains a shimmering tawny brown, shimmery gold and completed with an iridescent pink-white.
What I meant by saying it bears a “same same but different” variation is the usual pairing of pink-white found in this trio. We get a mixture of warm and cool tones in one palette which strangely works together very beautifully.
Texture of each shade is superbly soft and creamy to touch. The colours glides on like silk and they are so densely pigmented, there is no need for a primer.
However, a primer is still recommended if you have oily lids — a primer can help problems such as fading and creasing and also help colours become more pronounced.
But in this case, I find the colours solid enough, a primer isn’t need to further enhance the shades.
Swatches below taken under artificial day light, on dry arm — without flash nor primer.
I always like working with trios because the colours are coordinated in such a way I don’t have to give much thoughts to. For quads and quints, I usually spend an extra minute or two to think which combination I should use.
Like this trio for instance, I would use the tawny brown as my main lid colour, pad the gold onto center of my lids to give them an extra three-dimensional kick and the pink-white on my brow bones as highlight. Trios are always straightforward.
During testing, I experienced very little to no fall outs — many thanks to the buttery smooth pigments. Blending was a breeze too as the colours fuse together seamlessly.
I highly recommend this trio if you are a neutral lover — this is definitely something a little bolder and more crisp, something a little more fun but still understated and neutral when paired with a nude beige lip hue.
Thank you for looking.
I love palette with gold in them. What a beautiful palette! I have yet to try a Shiseido palette, guess it is about time to remedy that. 😉
You will love this piece for sure!!
The colours, pigmentation and texture are absolutely fantastic =)
