Look In Into The Woods

Look In Into The Woods (2)

Hello everyone, here’s a look with my curls showing more clearly — I like how effortless my curls look and I literally don’t have to worry about looking “messy”. But having said that, I think I still prefer my straight hair, what do you think?

Meanwhile, I am enjoying my curls while they last.

Moving on to the look. I am not sure if it’s for everyone — featuring Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in BR 214 Into The Woods I recently reviewed. This is quite a strong look overall. I could have paired a nude beige lip and wear a plain neutral top but what’s the point? The point of doing looks on this blog is to explore possibilities and inspire, I shouldn’t always go for the safer choice.

Call me a guinea pig but the more I look at this “bold eyes and lips pairing” the more I like it. How about you?

Face
I wanted some natural and glowy for this look, as if sun-kissed but not tan (because I am still having a tan). Something natural and skin-like so I went for the MAQuillAGE Perfect Multi Base BB and set with MAQuillAGE True Powdery UV.

The BB base alone offers sufficient coverage and be sure you use a big fluffy brush if you choose to set with the matching powder foundation because it can get cakey around sides of the nose (for me). If coverage is not your main concern, use either one will be good enough.

The powder foundation has great coverage and it can be used on its own without any base products.

Eyes
Brown, bronze, gold with a hint of pink. Although it’s still neutral but more fun and daring I suppose because it’s bolder than something I would natural wear. Please refer to number chart below.

  • Apply shade (1) all over lids, stop just below crease.
  • Use a darker brown to define outer corners of the eyes, in this look, I am using NARS Cream Eyeshadow in Ponderosa.
  • Tight line upper lash line with brown eyeliner.
  • Line upper lids with the same brown eyeliner and wing the corners outwards (optional).
  • Line lower lash line with Chanel Le Crayon Khôl Intense Eye Pencil in 75 Pêche Cuivré.
  • Apply shade (1) along 3/4 of lower lash line and deepen the corners with Ponderosa.
  • Apply shade (2) to inner corners of lower lash line.
  • Gentle pat shade (2) onto center of lids.
  • Apply a sheer layer of shade (3) onto brow bones to highlight and soften edges of shade (1).
  • Apply mascara and false eyelashes if needed.

Cheeks
I used my trusty Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Soft Duo Bronzer in 03 Amber Bronze Medium to warm up sides of my face and contoured ever-so-lightly along my cheek bones.

Applied a very light and sheer blush along the cheek bones for some colour. Highlighted parts of my face with a matte white highlighter (because my base is quite dewy, I don’t want to over do the highlight with something shimmery).

Lips
The safer choice is definitely a beige nude to match the bold eyes and healthy skin. Here, I have the Shiseido Perfect Rouge in RD 553 Showgirl, an orange-red — love this shade.

Thank you for looking.

  1. It’s hard for someone as beautiful as you to NOT look good in something. I like the bold eyes and strong lips too. Wear it while you’re young. When you get older, you can’t pull these looks off, you end up looking like a witch or a hooker. I like your hair too. Smooth is pretty but everybody does it. It’s fun to have tousled hair for a change, makes you look chic but a little wild too. Bet Mak likes it!!

    • Hi Mimi,
Oh my, your comment is so kind and flattering =)
I totally agree with “wear it while you’re young” because I feel there are some looks I can’t pull off anymore (i.e. really nude lips)..
Sadly, Mak doesn’t like it very much.. haha, he thinks my hair is very messy (all the time)!!
Anyway, happy mid-week to you and hope you have a wonderful day xx

  2. Hey Joey, OH. MY. GOD. I love this look! That lipstick is perfection on you, and I’m so jealous you can pull these eyeshadows off! Everything that’s remotely orange/red makes me look really ill!

    • Hello Sunny,
Oh my, thank you so much for loving this look =)
I wasn’t sure about this look at first but am glad you like it!!
These eyeshadows are really pretty and you can definitely pull them off too!!
      Happy Thursday xx

  3. Adore your taste. And I LOVE your hair in this post. Shiseido is a brand I’ve been kind of neglecting.. don’t really know why. But I think it is time to stop with the nonsense and actually try out their range haha you’ve really inspired me x

    • Thank you so so so much =)
I neglected Shiseido for a long, long time.. I remember “stealing” my sister’s Shiseido lipstick to play when I was young (that time, it was still Shiseido’s old packaging)..
I am slowly loving Shiseido again because their products are really quite awesome and suits my taste..
I hope you will fall in love with this beautiful brand again!!
      Happy weekend xx

    • Thank you so much Jacqueline!!
Starfish is very sheer and subtle, it bears a gorgeous sheen but am just ain’t sure if it will show up on darker skin tones.
Even on me, it seems sheer unless I pair it with a bronzer.
