Femme Boulevard: Let’s Go Black

Femme Boulevard_Let's Go Black (1)

Has it been a month already? Seems like it’s time for another round of Femme Boulevard.

Theme for this month’s look is Let’s Go Black – black lids with anything. After a subtle, natural everyday look last month, I am ready to rock some deep hues. Like always, I have nothing creative unlike my two other Femmes Lily and Teri, who occasionally shows us their wild side.

So, check their versions here and here.

This look I have for you today is very simple to achieve. It’s loud, a little naughty yet beautiful and sophisticated. Hope you like it.

Face
Keeping the base minimum and natural looking. I am currently enjoying both Clé de Peau BEAUTÉ Brightening Enhancer Base and Clé de Peau BEAUTÉ Brightening Powder Foundation – together, they provide great coverage and add radiant to my complexion.

Eyes
This look I have created here is intended to be slightly messy around the under eye area. Intense and a little naughty – you can choose to forgo applying the black shadow so far down.

  • Apply an eyeshadow primer – because we want to achieve intense hue and make sure the colour stays.
  • Apply matte black eyeshadow over entire lid.
  • I used Venus to highlight brow bones, Naked 2 and Faint to blend and soften the matte black eyeshadow – along the crease.
  • Pat on some MAC Pigment in Dark Soul (optional) to sparkle up the lids.
  • Tight line upper and lower lash line with MAC Eye Khol in Smolder and smudge with a pencil brush.
  • Finish off with mascara and some false eyelashes.

Cheeks
Very slight contour using Make Up For Ever Sculpting Kit and apply blush along the cheek bones.

Lips
Pair this look with any colour lips, pale beige, nude, hot pink, bright red, maroon or even purple. Anything goes – I was really tempted to put on a bright red lip but I thought, why not try the new NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Hyde Park.

Thank you for looking.

  1. Ooooh, I love it! I like how you described your look: loud and a bit naughty ;). It’s amazing how you are wearing a black smokey eye with a red lip and you still look like you are wearing nothing too much!

    • Thank you Teri =)
LOL, some people say that I am one of those who can wear lots and lots of makeup without looking like drag, not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing!!

    • Hello Mimi,
      Thank you so much =)
I think the eyeshadow plays a part – some can be dry and patchy, together with the brush and patience.. just go back and forth lightly (again and again) to achieve the effect and softness you want..
      Happy weekend xx
