Burberry Lip Velvet In 308 Pink Azalea

Burberry Lip Velvet In 308 Pink Azalea - 1

Featured in my monthly favourites last month is this gorgeous Burberry Lip Velvet in 308 Pink Azalea. I believe each retails at S$43 for 3.5g of product, made in Italy.

Don’t you love its packaging? It comes in an etched metal casing – pictured above left. I prefer this version more compared to their regular polished casing. No finger prints plus it looks chic and modern but a little manly if you ask me.

This new range of lipsticks bring a new finish for the lips – a velvety matte radiance, inspired by the most opulent of English fabrics.

Pink Azalea is a deep brown red with a tinge of plum. Slightly dusty when worn on my lips. The swatch below reflects a more accurate tone of the shade if you have lighter natural lip colour. Swatch taken without flash, under natural day light.

The Lip Velvets are silky smooth, they glide on the lips so effortlessly and the colour payoff is brilliant. They are not creamy (think Shiseido Perfect Rouge or Chanel Rouge Coco) and are extremely lightweight – I don’t feel like I am wearing any product at all. I was so impressed when I tried it at the counter, totally not something I expect.

I was more drawn towards the deeper, darker hues of this range and Pink Azalea was my immediate choice. I like the red, brown and plum mix with a cast of grey on my lips.

Besides the lightweight formula, it’s also non-drying. I am also impressed with its lasting power. The colour creates a “stain” on my lips – if I pat it on with my fingers, I get that “just-bitten” effect. This formula and shade lasts through a light meal – the lovely velvety sheen may be gone but it leaves a stain behind, coating my lips with a natural reddish tint.

I love the finish – it’s not totally matte but like velvet satin.

Burberry Lip Velvet in 308 Pink Azalea is nothing but love. Thumbs up for its formula and lasting power. I haven’t had the chance to stop by Burberry recently, if I do, I reckon I will pick up another one or two more of these beauties.

Have you tried the Lip Velvets yet? If you have, which shade(s) did you pick? And how are you liking them?

Thank you for looking.

  1. Gorgeous on you! Do collect one or two more as this is a Holy Grail color for you. May I ask what blush you are wearing as it is perfect with the lipstick?

  2. I recently bought this lipstick, had been in love with it for sooo long! And it’s amazing! I love it, it’s so romantic and within the reds but still such a different and unique shade! I’m delighted! 🙂

  3. Joey, Pink Azalea looks wonderful on you. I am also inclined towards the darker bolder shades, nude mattes just don’t look good on me. Have you checked out Military Red, that is on my want list. 🙂

  4. Hi Joey! I love your hair color and cut so much! I was wondering if you could tell me what color and picture reference you gave your hairdresser? Is it an ashy brown colour you got?

    • Hi Dawn,
Thank you so much for your kind compliment =)
I don’t usually tell my hairdresser what to do, he knows me well enough and gives me ideas!!
I don’t show him pictures too..
Ash brown sounds pretty close, good luck xx

  5. Hi Joey, You mentioned in another post that you’ll be gone for almost a month for the New Year. May I ask where you’ll be traveling and what wonderful photos I can hope to see?

  6. Joeyyy!!! This was my top choice too when I went to the counter x; i ignored the rest even the reds lol..
You gotta try the Bright Poppy; has a dupe with Nars but shoot i forgot which shade :))) the military red didn’t strike me as much tho ;/ this Azalea has that some magnet to it..cannot explain it but it’s just….________!!! haha

  7. P.S. How do you handle dry lips if your lips get sometimes dry? I am so frustrated. Every lipstick dries out my lips. Aquaphor is the only thing that helps, but as soon as I put a lipstick, they get dry and flaky? 😦 Your lips always look so moisturized.

    • Hi Sandra,
I try not to lick my lips and apply a generous layer of lip treatment/lip balm before I go to bed..
I have dry lips and lots of lines on my lips.. some times parched even =(
Exfoliate once every 2 weeks helped too..
