“Face is the canvas for makeup creation”
Shu Uemura
Have not used a stick foundation for some time and I am dying to get one. I have Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick, Sheseido MAQuillAGE Lasting Stick Foundation UV and Shu Uemura Nobara Cream Cover Stick on my list and I went for Shu Uemura’s.
The only stick foundation I have used before is by MAC but I think they have discontinued this product years back. I almost forgot all the goodness of stick foundations so hunting for one started months back. I went ION Orchard this afternoon to pick up some organisers from MUJI and popped by Shu Uemura accidentally for a look around.
And this is what happened.
I bought their new skincare primer, Stage Performer Instant-Glow (S$88) which promises immediate radiance, Nobara Cream Cover Stick (S$68) and Face Powder Matte (S$68).
Jess Ng, Shu Uemura’s Leading Beauty Stylist and Markup Artist served me and she is very inspiring and professional in recommending products. You may want to look for her if you need some tips on eyeshadow combinations too, she matches colours right well.
Thank you for reading.
Are stick foundations hard to blend? I have not tried any but got the general idea they are pretty dry?
Surprisingly, stick/cream foundations are very easy to apply and blends on smoothly.
I have combination skin so I have no problems with stick foundations being dry.
Perhaps you want to try the different textures/formulas on the market.
Personally, I find Shu’s creamier than MAQuillAGE’s and Bobbi Brown’s in between.
Oh, I like the name stage performer.
I am currently trying out Laura Mercier mineral primer ( the lotion version, not the powder one )
I had used nobara cream foundation ( the old pancake version, not the new stick form ), it was too greasy and crease like hell, but the coverage was good. Hope Shu had improved on these issues.
The only stick foundation I had at the moment was Bobbi Brown’s one, I reserve that for winter use. Becca’s stick foundation has a huge range of shades but again is too greasy for my liking.
I am trying Laura Mercier Mineral Foundation Primer too, how are you liking it?
To be honest, I don’t really like it.
I find it a little too oily?
I remember there is a layer of oil when I squeeze it out from the tube!!
Yet to try Nobara before I can tell if it works on me, hopefully it doesn’t crease or anything =)
I was going to get Bobbi Brown’s but the MA said it’s not suitable for oily skin.
I think you might need to ask LM counter to exchange the product for you, it might be faulty.
There shouldn’t be oil & water separation for this product. It’s oil free.
Oh, I am loving mine so far, in fact, mine feels like EL idealist upon application and dries to a rather powdery finish within 1 min.
Definitely non oily for my skin, in fact, can be too powdery on dry spots.
Thanks David for your advice =)
I tried it again today, it still has a layer of oil/water around the cream, if you know what I mean.
So I decided to shake it and try again, much better but I might just pop by LM to check.
Hello, I was wondering if you could take more up close pictures of the Stage Performer’s box? If you still have it? I would love to read the ingredients in the cream. They don’t sell it where I live.
Hi Amy,
Sorry, I don’t have the box anymore!!
I checked the tube itself but no ingredient statement.
