Look In Call Me Bubbles

I remembered a reader once requested for a punk look – I never quite knew how to go punk but I think this look is somewhere there, agree?

The main picture you see above is edited with Photoshop – I adjusted the curves and brightness, the ones below are not. I like the edited effect a lot – I had to include it in this post, although after seeing the picture above, you might find the ones below a little too diluted.

This look evolves entirely around the MAC products I bought a while ago – more information and swatches here. When I bought them, I was going through a look mentally but wasn’t sure if it was going to work or if I can pull the colours off. So, here is a complete look for you – I like it and I will probably wear it out some day.

It’s simple to achieve and fun to create.

For face: As always, when I want to play with pink lipsticks and/or eyeshadows, I use a primer to take away the redness on my skin – here, I am using Make Up For Ever HD Primer in #2. I applied foundation with a neutral undertone which is my Shu Uemura Face Architect Illuminating Moisture Fluid Foundation and set with Shu Uemura Face Powder Matte.

Highlighted parts of my face with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade.

For eyes: I went for a set of pretty defined brows but nothing too dark. Prepped my eye lids with MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque and went in with Fresh Daily (orange) all over my inner 1/3 of my eyes. I applied Brash (copper) to the remaining 2/3 of my lids and blend. I brought Brash up to the crease and slightly across my inner lids – towards my inner corners of my eyes. If you want something more subtle, you can skip this step.

Apply Call Me Bubbles (sheer beige) under the brows and blend in with rest of the eyeshadow shades. I applied Brash along 2/3 of my lower lash line and Full Of Flavour (pink) to the inner 1/3 of my lower lash line. The pink really made this look pop.

Finish the eyes with black liquid eyeliner, mascara and some false eyelashes.

For cheeks & lips: I wanted a blush that matches my lips so I went for MAC Sheertone Blush in Pink Swoon – a light dust of colour, subtle enough to compliment this look. I went on to add MAC Matte Blush in Darkly My Dear to contour and sculpt my cheeks – this adds more definition to my cheeks.

Lined my lips with MAC Lip Pencil in Life’s A Breeze and fill them in with MAC Viva Glam Nicki. I also added a sheer layer of Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in 57 Insolence to the centre of my lips and a small amount of Smashbox Artificial Light Luminizing Powder to my cupid’s bow.

Thank you for looking, hope you like this look.

  1. loving the lips! i did an eyelook very long time ago with colours that’s something like yours, but very much simpler…

not sure if i will ever have the courage to wear such a bubblegum pink on the lips

  2. I don’t mean to be a downer but I don’t like this look on you. It doesn’t do justice to your beauty. It makes you look tough and cheap. You are beautiful and elegant and do a much better job when you use your own taste. Funny how makeup, like hairstyle and clothing, can make such an impression on people who don’t know you. Appearance affects us all whether that’s fair or right or not. Perhaps I should try to take a look at myself and try to see how others see me. What kind of an impression do I send out to the world? So nice to see you smile, you are quite lovely!

  3. Hi Joey, this look is really stunning! Vibrant, lots of colours that that I would never have considered before. Did you also have a haircut? I love it! it’s very chic!

  4. I really like this look on you. It’s a bit out of the box and definitely reflects Francois Nars’ philosophy “Why so serious? It’s only makeup.” I skipped this quad as I didn’t think I could pull off matte pink eyeshadow 🙂 I did get the other two quads instead as I’m a big fan of blues, purples and teals.

  5. Wow “MIMI”, cheap is DEFINITELY not the right word used to describe someone you dont know personally, and worse still judging through a PHOTO.

Joey, im all up for anything edgy and bold! love this on u!! i think its a whole different side of u! 😉

  6. WOW! This look just perks me up early in the morning!!! Haha! This is a whole new you…I guess…. Everything seems perfect here..from the hair to the eye look to the lip colour…but I guess the outfit looks a little off… Well done though..I love this post. 😉

I tried on so many tops, ended up grabbing my black jacket and started snapping!!
