MALIN+GOETZ Ingrown Hair Cream

New York based apothecary and unisex skincare brand MALIN+GOETZ and Singapore-based hair removal experts Strip: Ministry of Waxing are excited to announce the launch of their collaborative Ingrown Hair Cream.

Synergy began when the two independent, family-run businesses partnered for distribution in 2005 to bright the ten one year old MALIN+GOETZ brand to the (now) 34 international Strip locations for retail and back bar spa services in cities such as Singapore, London, New York and Hong Kong.

In everything we develop, we balance cutting-edge skincare technology with natural-based ingredients known for time-tested healing. We were excited to unite our skill for artisanal skincare formulating with Strip’s expertise and authority for hair removal and spa services to create this Ingrown Hair Cream as a natural extension of our philosophies and on-going partnerhsip.

Before I start sharing my thoughts about this product, I would love to thank everyone who have either emailed me, text me for have commented on my previous post about considering IPL. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with me. I have yet looked into IPL but I will surely consider when the time comes – be it for the underarms or brazilian, too many positive feedbacks, I got to try for myself.

Moving onto other parts of body hair removal, I am guilty of shaving my legs and underarms, occasionally, my arms too. My hair on these areas are relatively fine despite shaving since secondary school.

I have an epilator but I seldom use it. I prefer shaving after a hot bath and exfoliating all at once.

When I started waxing at Strip, I bought their X’ed Out Ingrown Hair Treatment Cream – which they have discontinued (for a better reason I guess). The X’ed Out Ingrown Hair Treatment Cream had a very strong, tea tree oil scent – almost too overpowering for me. When I learnt that Strip has partnered with MALIN+GOETZ to create a new Ingrown Hair Cream, I was naturally excited to try.

Glad to know that the MALIN+GOETZ Ingrown Hair Cream doesn’t bears a strong scent, instead, it has an almost fruity flavour to it – thanks to the papaya and pineapple enzyme. The scent is very soothing and I really enjoy smelling it when I use it.

So, what is ingrown hair?

Ingrown hair is a condition where hair curls back or grows sideways into the skin. It may or may not be accompanied by an infection of the hair follicle or “razor bumps”, which vary in size. While ingrown hair most commonly appears in areas where the skin is shaved or waxed (beard, legs, pubic region), it can appear anywhere.

Definition of ingrown hair extracted from wikipedia, read the entire article here.

First Impressions Texture of the MALIN+GOETZ Ingrown Hair Cream is soft, creamy and light – almost like whipped butter. It has a powdery finish, non-sticky which is perfect for underarms. I apply it before bed and it feels very comfortable. It comes in a handy plastic tube which is easy to travel with and store. I really enjoy the mild fruity scent too.

After 3 days I noticed the layer of skin wrapping the ingrown hair is gone and what used to be an ingrown hair has grown out and ready to be removed.

The Overview

I don’t suffer from major ingrown hair problems, one or two here and there. Sometimes, I will use a pair of tweezers to remove but that is often quite painful as I have to extract the hair from under a layer of skin. Very rarely but it has happened before, I have encountered ingrown hair that has been infected – it looks and feels like a pimple.

I am very thrilled to say that the MALIN+GOETZ Ingrown Hair Cream worked for me. It’s gentle, painless and a pleasure to have on. Within days, say goodbye to any ingrown hair.

I believe the ingredients help exfoliate and eliminate the thin layer of skin above the ingrown hair. A little goes a long way. I apply a very thin layer onto any post hair removal areas the very same night. However, it is suggested that you apply this product after 24 hours if you have sensitive skin.

I didn’t experience any burning or tingling sensation when using this product. And areas I have applied this cream to, seem normal, doesn’t feel drying nor sensitive. This product doesn’t leave any form of film onto the skin and is absorbed relatively quickly into the skin.

I would recommend this product to

Anyone who suffers from mild ingrown hair problems. I do not know how well this product can treat more severe cases but it’s worth a try. It’s quick, simple and gentle. It is said to be gentle enough for the face.

Mak is currently using this product too – along his jaw line and chin after shaving. So far so good.
