Guerlain La Sélection Couleur Makeup Palette

Hello everyone, sorry for the absence on this blog as I have been extremely busy rounding up projects and preparing for Chinese New Year next week. Today, I have a lovely palette I picked up from the airport when I traveled last month, for you. Guerlain never fails to impress me with all the fine details and quality of their travel exclusive makeup palettes.

Similar to the Guerlain Terracotta La Sélection de L’été Makeup Palette (reviewed here, look featuring the palette here), the Guerlain La Sélection Couleur Makeup Palette comes in a polished, double-decked compact casing. This palette features 5 x 1.5g eyeshadows on the first tier, 2 x 1.5g and 2 x 0.7g lipstick on the second.

This palette comes with a sponge tip applicator and a lip brush together with a velvet pouch.

I think the selection of eyeshadow colours in the palette is very wearable across all skin tones. Ideal for day and night makeup. All the 5 eyeshadows swatch beautifully – all buttery, smooth and soft to touch.

From top to bottom, we have an iridescent beige, a shimmery champagne, a matte mid-tone beige, a metallic brown and a metallic gun-metal mauve. Excellent colour payoff across the board with the first iridescent beige shade being the sheerest and the last two darker shades being the most pigmented.

All swatches taken without flash, under natural sunlight – swatched on dry arm without primer.

I am very happy that the lipsticks come in a separate compartment, in this case, a separate tier. Generally, I try to avoid purchasing palette that has both powder and cream products together – I find it messy because the powder will get into the cream and all that.

Again, very impressed with the 4 shades of lip colours. It contains a red, pink, rose and nude – you can use them alone or mix them together to get the perfect shade.

These lipsticks have a soft, fruity scent and they are quite different with the Guerlain lipsticks I have in terms of opacity. The 4 lip colours in this palette feels almost like a gloss, adding just a hint of colour to the lips. They are not sticky nor drying – feels very light and comfortable on the lips. The lipsticks also contain micro-shimmering particles which are not very visible when worn but give the lips that extra bit of shine.

I would say that the lipsticks in this palette reminded me of Chanel Rouge Coco Shine, Clarins Rouge Prodige and Lunasol Full Glamour Lips G. Very smooth, glides onto the lips effortlessly and even the red is very wearable during the day.

All in all, totally in love with this palette. I think it’s value for money and the product is of great quality. I also love the fact that this palette can bring me from day to night without a doubt. I particularly love the selection of eyeshadow and lipstick colours, they are versatile and wearable in every way.

If you are traveling, it’s available at DFS Singapore and I think it retails at about S$70+.

Thank you for reading.

  1. The is a beautiful palette, I love the neutrals. Can this be bought only at the airport? I would love to check it out. I feel the same about palettes with both cream and powder. Somehow I rarely touch the cream products.
