Best Of 2012 – Me & My Blogging Journey

Happy New Year everyone.

I hope 2012 has been an awesome year for you. In this entry, let’s not talk about what we haven’t done or what we have lost – instead, let’s look back at 2012 and focus on what we have done.

I don’t know about you but when I can’t sleep at night, my mind goes wandering and thinking of things I missed – could be as simple as “oh man, I should have used a brown eyeliner instead of a black.” Yes, I know and all these nasty voices must stop, now.

To celebrate this positive vibe, I bring you 12 highlights of 2012;-

01. Visited India for the first time in my life.

02. Featured in Female as one of the three beauty collectors.

03. Fell in love with Instagram as seen here, here and here.

04. Reached my record-breaking weight of 60kg in April and have lost 7kg since then.

05. Went for Russell Peters Notorious World Tour 2012 and it was super awesome.

06. Love my set of birthday nails.

07. Bought Clarisonic Mia and have never looked back since.

08. My new camera and lighting are absolutely divine.

09. New blog layout and joeychong.com finally belongs to me.

10. Met François Nars, François Demachy and Michelle Phan in person.

11. Femme Boulevard found me and I have created a total of 96 looks to date.

12. Joey’space has received a total of 1,630,000 page views and counting.

—————————————-

I would like to take this chance to thank all readers of Joey’space for your continuous support and encouragements – without you, Joey’space would not have come so far. Blogging has been a very pleasant journey for me as I really enjoy every single post I write, every photo I take and every look I create.

And I read and reply every single comment I get, the good and not so good.

Through all my entries, I wish to inspire and to let you know that makeup is fun and makeup does wonders. And best of all, makeup is only temporary.

Do I like all the looks I have done? Well, I think they can be better. I try to create looks out of my own comfort zone, experiment with colours, textures and varies combinations – although I must say, I usually stir towards more wearable looks but hey, that’s the whole idea.

To be able to carry off a certain look but still be yourself. Go for it, look different for every occasion – it’s definitely better than looking back at old pictures with all the same look right?

I have been very fortunate to be able to try out many products and I really appreciate your trust in me. Be it a product is purchased by myself, gifted by someone or given by the brand, I do not review it differently because I do not want to and there’s really no need to.

This year, this blog has again, provided me with many opportunities – such as meeting François Nars in person, attending media events and launch parties. I would like to thank all the companies and PR firms for your kind support, generosity and contributions to this little space of mine.

And again, a warm welcome to NARS, Tom Ford, Giorgio Armani and YSL – it’s amazing to see these big brands in Singapore and with them, I think it makes the whole makeup shopping experience so much more exciting.

Can I be greedy and ask for more? I think SUQQU, Addiction, Hakuhodo, Illamasqua, D&G, Inglot, Le Métier de Beauté, Jill Stuart and possibly many more should come to Singapore too. Wouldn’t it be even more wonderful? But then again, I can’t imagine myself practicing self-restraint, can you?

—————————————-

For me 2012 hasn’t been the most exciting – quite plain and boring as mentioned in my previous post. But I have watched so many films, here are my 12 favourites, in no particular order;-

01. The Bourne Legacy

02. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

03. The Amazing Spider-Man

04. Magic Mike

05. Dark Shadows

06. CZ12

07. Skyfall

08. The Hunger Games

09. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2

10. Taken 2

11. The Avengers

12. Step Up Revolution

What are your favourite movies in 2012? I have yet to catch The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and Les Misérables, have you watched them?

Nick Vujicic and Katie Piper

I am not sure what 2013 will bring but I would like to end this post with two books I picked up from a local book store a few months ago. Two incredible life stories about courage, faith and belief.

“If you have faith, you don’t need proof – you live it.”

Thank you for reading.
